Default Dillon 650 - I blew it up - Dillon fixed it!

Ok... 300 rounds into rockin' on the new Dillon 650... punchin' out 45 ammo like it is nobody's business... I'm there and it don't get better than this.. went slow the first 100 rounds or so to make sure I got the feel of the machine and then was rockin' ... about 15 rounds into the 4th tube of primers and the whole tube exploded...
Turns out I was supposed to go a little slower... and the Federal primers can be a problem... blew up the whole tube...very loud noises... bad JUJU...bits of my primer check system going all over the garage...
Called dillon on the first... got home Saturday night and there on my porch is a whole new priming system... DANG...

By the way.. this system beats the tar outa the hold hornady pro-7... of course it costs alot more and I bought all of the goodies...but for high production ammo ... this thing is great. Can't praise the company enough... OK... I blew up the primer tube and have never done that on the Hornady system... but in terms of fast...wow... I guess I'm supposed to not use military brass unless the primer pocket has been punched out and will be switching to winchester primers or something...and will go very slow with the Federals until they are gone.

Dillon is AWESOME!

Polycarbonate... Industrial thickness as I wear them for work and the range..

Wow, glad to hear you escaped the primer magazine explosion unharmed! That's my #1 fear (always wearing eyes and often ears too when reloading). I was reloading for my vacation 3 weeks ago and managed to drop the last 100 primers on the ground during a transfer from pickup to magazine (long story, but the short of it was I left the pin out). None went off but my heart sure did Then I spent the next 2 hours looking for all the little bastards. I gave up after finding the 99th one. Then somehow, even after checking the machine and the tubes before starting I managed to load 100 rounds with only 99 recovered primers! To this day I STILL don't know how the heck I did it...

The day you give up looking for it is the day you'll find it.

ALWAYS ream the primer pocket on any military, foreign once-fired brass that show crimp marks around the primer picket. Rifle, or Pistol .... Some PMC, Sellior & Beloit also comes crimped etc ....

Glad you are ok, good thing you bought the Dillon .... would hate to hear the learning curve was a learning cliff

OK...
I haven't put the machine back together yet but I went to the range today and shot some of the ammo I had previously loaded... Berry's Bullets... be very cool!... some Universal Clays... middle of the road load... and standard primers... taper crimped of course and very very accurate... I am excited for the heat index to drop somewhere below the level of hell so I can get back to loadin' and shootin' ....
Dillon Rocks!

I have reloaded 8000 rounds of 45 with my buddies 550 and had great success and pleasure in the outcome. The Berry bullets work great.

It is a little cooler up here, but still very warm @ mid to upper 80's. Stepping out to our local Jazz festival that just got started.

That's their policy. There warranty is as good as it gets. We broke parts on the machine I use and the replacement was delivered within a couple of days. It had 25,000 to 30,000 rounds on it at the time.
