At one of our local supermarkets, I found the 123 cells for (packages of 2 cells) for about $6.50-ish and about $12.50-ish... One was a Duracell (I think) and the other was an Energizer Lithium battery. In general, my experience with those lithium batteries is that they DO last quite a while, but they're also a bit more expensive than the standard alkaline batteries.

They claim a shelf life or 10 years which beats out any alkaline batteries by far.
With the high intensity bulbs they will go fast, 1/2 hour to 1 hour depending on lumins.
The best prices I have seen are $18-21 when bought by the dozen.
In retail packs of 2 ea they run from $6 10 in my experience.
Buy by the dozen and you will have plenty when you really need them.

Wink panasonic lithium batteries

FYI.. panasonic makes surefire batteries as well as many other private label brands, guess they are the largest small battery manfg out there,so while lookin for batteries always have a look at panasonics brand, most of the time they are cheaper than others with a private label and probably fresher as well, panasonic prints the good to date right on the pkg and batt so you know your getting a newer batt, and when ordering batts for storage ask shipper to send newes manfg date, usually they will, usually they say a 123 lithium batt has a 5-6 year shelf life, panosic says their batt has a 9 -10 year storage time, not sure why theirs are so much longer but maybe because their own name is on it, so better quality ?? batteryjunction.com has a great selection and great prices, as well as some good tech info on alot of batteries out there.. gday-mate..

I use the higher end Tenergy CR123s. If you google you can usually find an 11% off or free shipping coupon.

Tenergy CR123A Lithium Photo Battery Propel with PTC Protected

I've used their cheaper CR123s. They work fine but I just prefer the ones listed above. Lithium batteries can go boom if drained too hard and it's worth the extra pennies to me.

I might be crazy, but I use my SureFire 6PLED every day at work. This is a great light that serves me very well. I buy the SureFire batteries. They really do last longer than the Duracell ones I've had to buy on occasion at the local store. I get a notable longer overall run time with the SureFire brand 123s.

The customer service at SureFire is amazing. Great company.
