Don't forget Turners (as of Jan 1st 2007) will MAKE YOU buy a $5.99 lock regardless if you have a safe at home or if you bring a lock with you at pick up. I just did a PPT at Turners and had to buy the pad lock. The counter guy said the lock is good for any # of guns purchased at Turner for 30 days (must show proof with receipt). After the 30 days... you need to buy another lock again.

Actually Turners is over $100, $105 I think + DROS.

Maybe I'm just a good customer but they give me locks for free. What turners do you go to? I know the Mgr.s @ Reseda, Pasadena & West Covina very well, have bought a handgun every month this year and 3 rifles and they haven't charged me.

Once you get your CCW, I recoomend putting on all your handguns (if you got 3 or less). You never know when one might come in handy.

No question there...I just have to decide which three.

I will more than likely go with a .380 for the size, a XD .40 compact for "the usual", and the 454

The 454 will definetely be listed due to a couple Montana trips and an Alaska trip I have planned.

Get a Florida CCW permit. Then you can use that for your 454 and any other handguns "as they don't limit you" when you travel to MT and Alaska. The reason I say Florida over Utah is the Florida has a shot at getting reprocity with Nevada.

Anyway that will free up a spot for another true CCW on you California license.

Because of the cost.

That being said I am waiting for both in the mail.

Utah does get you Washington. Being he goes to Montana he might also find himself in Washington.

I DROSed at the Huntington Beach Turners... they didn't tell me about the lock until I asked them what the $5.99 on the DROS receipt was for. I confirmed with the cashier the $5.99 is for a padlock and I'll get it with the gun when I pickup. You might want to check your receipt to see if they gave you the lock for free or they charged you.

On one occasion, I tried to do a PPT through Turner's in Azusa. We got together, seller and buyer, at the appointed time there. We tried to get the paperwork going, it was one excuse after another, finally it was obvious this man was not going to do it, the more stuff he asked for, the more I came up with. Finally we asked one of the floor sale persons if he knew where else we could go, as I knew the Manager was the problem however I did not voice that, because I felt this was a losing preposition. As we left the guy said, "I get cops coming in here to do PPTs and I enjoy not doing it, I put it to them". (I am not a cop, however I showed him other Fed. Creds.)
We ended up going to Gun Runners Gun Shop, near by. They were "commando style", fast, silent and effective!. These guys took care of us. We paid $35.00, done by the book!. I ended up buying extra mags from them. I would recommend them.
Turner's will charge you $95.00+ if you do a FFL transfer with them. They think that if you order the gun through someone else, now they are going to punish you....idiots!. Usually you walk in there, the advise is poor and they lack inventory, even with items that are advertised.
Once they had a "J" frame S&W on sale. We went there, the salesman said "I have one I sold to a customer, but you can't use the trigger", the rep was there and proceeded to activate the trigger like crazy, several times very fast, to show me. My friend and I looked at each other with a smirk on our faces. I said, "I am not buying anything unless I know what the trigger feels
like". I still did not get to feel the trigger!. We left. End of story. They do not do a thing for me!.

The feds are no longer accepting California's gun safe law. It must include a lock now.
