I have tried to buy ammo at that (Carson/605) Walmart because it's right next door to our range. They didn't sell ammo the time I tried. That was a couple years ago.

Frankly, I don't expect much from employees who was only paid minimum wage to know what they are talking about. It does sound like this particular employee is acting on his own. Since I am very close to the Brea store (the one located on Imperial Hwy right?), I will try to pay a visit this Saturday and see what they say...

As far as WWB... I found it to be about as dirty as Wolf, but at least the brass are reloadable. I've being doing a lot of reloading lately to built up my "stock pile" for my handgun practice ammo, and I am happy to report that I have a healthy level of ammo sitting in previously empty ammo can... like 3x .50 cal full of .45 and 3x .30 cal full of 9mm...

I've been buying all my ammo at that same Brea store for 3 years. Never been a problem. Sometimes they don't have enough in stock. They've never refused to sell me however much I wanted, sometimes as much as 1000 rds for a class.

This is beyond belief!!! I have read these legendary stories of "buying ammo at walmart" for years, yet i am convinced it is fantasy...on several occasions, i have fallen for the old story, and waited 20 minutes for them to find the employee of the sporting goods department, then another 20 minutes for him to struggle through FINDING the keys, and locating the CORRECT key to open the ammo case, only to find out, SURPRISE!!! "Well what do you know! We are totally out of .45ACP...sure you dont want some 9mm???" "NO, I DONT WANT ANY 9MM" "and thanks for trying pal" as i realized i had yet again wasted almost an hour on the excercise in futility...

Well lucky for you guys, probably in the future, i will fall for this myth again, and go through the same excercise...to lose yet another hour i will never have again...<sigh>

Funny SB...

I finally made it up to the Pville Wal-mart a couple of months ago... I asked about ammo and the lady said sure, here's what we have in .45. She put a box of WWB, Blazer Brass and Blazer Alum. on the counter. I said - how many do you have of the WWB - oh, eight boxes. Ok, the brass? Oh, 20. The alum.? 10. I took all the 6 of the WWB. I think sigman got the rest. :-)

They keep it right under the counter - no lock. AND the lady talked to me about shooting because she and her husband love to shoot. I live in a pretty decent area! :-)

My local WalMart told me the week before I went down to Burro in March that they were going to stop selling all together. But, I keep going back and it keeps getting restocked so who know. Half the time the folks behind the counter are clueless and or fed bad info.

Before we moved from Sacramento the Wal-Mart by our house stopped selling ammo. The sporting goods clerk said that the store stopped selling it at the request of local law enforcement.

The Elk Grove WM is still selling ammo... or at least it was the last time I checked a couple months ago. Unfortunately, I haven't been back since to recheck their ammo sales status. Oh, and since that WM is outside the Sacramento City limits (and in a different city altogether), they're not bound by any Sacramento City Ordinances (real, proposed, or imagined).

I don't really have any Wal-Marts near me, I was going to go try them out but ended up at Big 5 and they were dry on .45.

I went to pick up my issues of Hanguns and Combat Handguns where I always get them, at my local Von's. This is a week after the VT shootings, there were no Hunting or gun mags on the shelf, so I asked the manager and the air bag said, "that they didnt want to encourage people by having gun magazines on the shelves", I told him that it was ridiculous, and then asked why he has shelves full of booze? are you encouraging people to get drunk? he stood there with the typical stoopid look on his face, I walked out.

Encourage people? That is lamer response than usual!

If he said they were pulling them for a week or so because of sensitivity during the immediate aftermath, that would be one thing. I would not agree but at leat I would understand it.

The magazines should never be pulled for any reason, do they yank all the car modification mags everytime some dipsh&* with a turbo car wraps their car around a telephone pole while street racing? No.

Its ridiculous. While I was at Big 5 buying ammo people in line were all freaked out, guy behind me said, "ahh doing some shooting huh?" with this look on his face.

Anyone know of any reliable ammo sale websites?
