Here's their YouTube commercial.

I dunno... there's obviously some gung-ho stuff that bothers me. I have a hard time taking them seriously when I see the chicks in the black sports bras. I'm not complaining, mind you... I just think it looks silly. Their target is likely adult males and if I were to show that commercial to my wife... let's just say it wouldn't go well for me.

Wink Front Sight

I went to Front Sight for the 4 day defensive handgun course about a month ago. I thought it was great. Yes, there is a lot of marketing going on, but I didn't mind. The training was superb and the staff was all well trained and friendly.

The problem is you didn't get her a black sports bra first.

Yeah... I tend to not think so.

I've been getting bombarded with offers from Front Sight, but I just read somewhere that they're in receivership. I.P. says not, that they're operating "business as usual," but the article said that the court had taken over all financial dealings.

I woul never sign any contract with a company in recievership, or being run by a bank, government etc .... yes, Front Sight has issues and to reference a friend of mine who is a retired USMC Col.... " a leopard never changes his spots." He has known Piazza for 20 years and has never had much of an opinion of him.

I got info from a show all about building your retirement home there and being able to use all of the venues but one thing hit me the wrong way you never own your lot all of the property is the operators so you pass and he gets your dwelling to sell to someone else.I had military and law enforcement training plus learned a lot from all of the very experienced world war 2 combat vets who were club members.

I had a miserable time at FrontSight and thought it was a complete waste of a 4 day weekend. It was a form of a pyramid scheme where they spent every free moment pumping you to buy a membership (and then infinity upgrade it) all while passing off mediocre training as fantabulous. The instructors had some qualifications, but nothing that would make your head spin around in awe.

All of that said. Google google and google some more, you'll hear the good the bad and the ugly. I wouldn't have believed it had I not seen the insanity for myself.

For the record, They are no longer in receivership, I believe they were legally in the black as of a few months ago. They still have gobs of litigation pending as they are not making good on promises made to LARGE donors and there are a lot of reasonable allegations of it being run by the Church of Scientology. BTW the test at the end of the weekend is a head game, I do organizational behaviour and marketing for a living/hobby, they are well versed in every mind game and sales technique I have ever studied.

Its worth seeing once, for certain, but leave your credit cards at home and promise yourself to not buy a membership, no matter what.

Oh and if you are taking a handgun class take a Glock or a 1911 (leave your Sig's at home) anything that was not a Glock or a 1911 they poo poo'ed in a HUGE way.

It's all a question of whether it's worth it. I go out of state so rarely, it doesn't seem like it would be. Plus, if you're in Nevada, you can supposedly carry in your car (in the glove box). I've been in Nevada maybe three times in my adult life, so that isn't worth it. Even with the "free gun," it isn't worth it.
I had info from the beginning of front site after seeing them at a gun show hawk buy a home and live there on site where you can shoot your weapons, however the land is never yours it all belongs to FS & if you don't pay your fees you're out or if they go out of business you're out of your home.I can join a gun club w/o buying a home or paying their fees.

Maybe they are all sweetness and light. On the other hand if you haven't read much about the Church of Scientology (a fair amount available on the web) then you might not understand the behavior of an organization run by a member.

Here's a recent indication of Scientology behavior:

--> Church of Scientology convicted of fraud in France
Quote:
The case was brought by two former members who said they were pushed into paying large sums of money in the 1990s, pressed to sign up for expensive "purification courses" and harassed to buy a variety of vitamins and other forms of pharmaceuticals, plus electronic tests to measure spiritual progress. One woman said she had been pressured into spending more than $30,000.
