Default Security guard training. Alternative to CCW?

Has anyone had security guard training? Would this allow a person to conceal carry? or open carry?

I saw some renta guards at a swapmeet and they carry (open carry).

Do you think becoming a bona fide security is a better option than getting a CC permit if you work in a less than safe area or environment?

What are the limitations and advantages?

I see where you're coming from, but you can't mix and match. They are not the same. CCWI can give you the legalities.

Well, first of all, how do you plan to carry when you are not working as an armed security guard?

If you working in a not so safe area, then you are doing both regular work, and security work..
Doing 2 things at once, multitasking is what it is called.

A Guard Card & Exposed Firearms Permit, issued by Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS), only works for on duty uniformed security guards.

If you are not a P.O.S.T. Certified LEO, Concealed Carry requires a CCW issued by a Chief Law Enforcement Officer (usually the Sheriff of the county where you reside).

I will be working at a place that is prone to burglaries, theft and break-ins.
Was thinking that maybe being a certified guard would be more logical & efficient than the CCW route.

Thanks for the info.
I wasn't looking for quick criticism, but rather enlightenment.

Again I am in another state, a state where freedoms you fight for everyday are commonplace here in VA. Open carry/ Shall issue state is quite a disparity from CA don't you guys think?

You can not just be a guard and open carry. You need to be working for a private patrol operator (PPO) they a license and bonded. You would only carry in the performance of your guard duties. Multi tasking is not a option. What you are trying to do will not be legal here.

Your question struck a nerve with some members because of recent events and threads that have been pulled. It has nothing to do with you personally. It's just your timing is perfect

Thumbs up

Hey CCWinstructor (GREG). Do you work at that indoor range in Huntington Beach. I believe it is about a 15 yard indoor range. My home of record is not to far from there.

I frequented the Stockade and a shooting range there. It was in an industrial area.

I know where the "firing line" is, I was there the first night they open. No, I have never worked there. In the early 80's I worked across Gothard from there at the Police Range.

Default To the best of my knowledge

If your employer grants you permission to carry at work that is legal. There are some restrictions you do have to follow when you are outside the building in public view.

Someone here who knows will enlighten you.

Default Security - NO GO!

Doing security as an armed guard makes you want to
have a CCW even more!!!
(Open Carry only w/ a valid Gun Permit & Guard Card)

A security guard can't have a back-up? Didn't know that.
