He looks at me. Just looks.

"You're not Gimper, are you?"

"Who?"

I left before he reloaded.
I forgot about that.

Post Show OFF!!

Howdy Folks and Happy New Year

I ran into a guy yesterday at Evans in Orange who was "blowing" out his target's center ring while shooting ONE-HANDED! What a show off shooting all those 10s thus I had to go over to watch him. Hmm, is this The Gimper? Eyes like an Eagle, shooting hand steady as a ROCK? Left hand holding onto a cane for support! Yup, it "twas". I watched him practice with his Colt .380 and a S&W Model 66(?) for a bunch of time, happy I wasn't the bad guy if the situation arose.

The Gimper noticed (made sure he did) my Kahr PM 9 and of course I "had" to offer him to try it! I can say he did as well or better with my Kahr and The Gimper said he loved the smooth trigger pull. We chatted a while and I said I was wondering if SVTNate had shown up since he posted a forum inquiry if anyone was going to practice at Evans yesterday afternoon. I understand SVTNate did show up but didn't practice probably because it was like a freezer in the shooting range.

If you plan to shoot at Evans, HINT - bring a sweatshirt/jacket etc. If it weren't for a sweatshirt I had in my vehicle, I couldn't have lasted too long practicing yesterday!

Being in So Cal, Evans is not heated in the shooting bays, only A/C'd. The ventilation system is blowing constantly, medium breeze. Since Evans is like OT and FL, essentially in an industrial park setting, the building is not suited for luxuries like heating, so yes, it can get cold there in the winter when it is colder than normal outside.

That sensation of being cold is only an illusion, since we are experiencing "GLOBAL WARMING" according to Al Gore.

Was at Evans today with my 10 year old daughter from 3 to 4:30 PM. Her first shooting experience! We both had a blast. She was nervous at first. But quickly got acclimated to the boom boom from the other bays. "only two others there at that time" Seems it is easy to forget others while you are busting out the 10 ring with your new pink stocked rifle!

Upon walking in she said "can I just shoot it twice and so we can leave"? Again as she started shooting the little Cricket and see that it was not loud, plus she could see her sucess, she LOVED it!!!!

I had to drag her out of there!

We had so much fun I bought an annual membership and added a family member to it.

I am at least now also an On Target member. But I think that is not going to be renewed. A little too far for me. I am so glad CCWI introduced me to Evans. "acutally he had introduced me to OT too" I am going to get to shoot so much more.

Anyway, great staff and a fun, safe and clean place!

Can't wait to shoot some more tomorrow!!

That is so awesome. She is a lucky girl to have a dad like you.

Oh yeah. This from a guy who sets up his target, takes his gun out of the case, loads it, and proceeds to put the first round dead center of the 10 ring!

I had to do something. My reputation as a Founding Member of the forum was on the line.

It was really great to meet you Tough Guy Levi, and it was a pleasure to shoot that PM 9. That really is a nice gun.

We must have just missed each other. I got there about 4:30. I was disappointed that I didn't get to meet your daughter.

Gimper, you show em!!

I failed to mention why my daughter was so nervous today. I told her of my status as a Founding Member. That she by default was a Founding Princess and could not embarrass King CCWI or CalCCW by doing anything short of knocking out the 10 ring on her first visit to Evans with her new Pink Stocked Cricket 22lr.

I have a feeling there is a lot of nervous targets sitting at Evans tonight!!

I am so surprised you never knew of Evans before considering where you live. I will be going a lot more too as it is one third closer than the rest.

I can't see why kids wouldn't like shooting. One of the first games they want to do is the rifle/bullseye booth at the fairs!

Here is her target. Well second one after her warm up. From about 12 to 15 yards out. 25 shots that I counted. Only thing I did was load the bolt. She cocked it, then put her finger back in the index position, fully supported herself and aimed and fired. By the end she was doing a Deon Sanders dance everytime she hit orange.
