OK, back on questionable topic -

As a civilian CCW, if I'm ever in an active shooter situation, I will do everything I can to avoid attention. The SUL posture says "HEY!! LOOK OVER HERE!!" both to the bad guy and the blue wave that we hope will arrive any moment.

I would try to keep my weapon concealed until I had a shot. If I were to draw, I would try to follow the example of Michael Corleone leaving Louis' Italian Restaurant - pistol in the right hand, straight down next to my leg, finger off the trigger.

I do not work for either....it's a good "tool".....these TFTT and Suarez are people I've learned from.

Are you saying that a LEO is going to perceive you as less of a threat because you are holding your firearm out in the open, but in a safe position (SUL); as opposed to holding your firearm in some other position at the ready? Do you recommend doing this with your CCW badge around your neck too or would SUL be blocking the badge?

My personal feeling is a CCW holder should'nt have a badge, it's not necessary and could be mispercieved as "posing" as LEO.

In the scenario I gave, SUL would be a less agressive stance, opposed to holding your weapon off to the side which is a control issue if other TANGOS are around within fist fighting distances.

don't mean to poke fun at SUL or any other training method, because anything you can learn to improve the tacticool mindset can always be beneficial and fun. From a CCW standpoint, there are really only a couple of options if you have to use your firearm - concealed (holstered or hidden by clothing) or on target.

I guess I'm saying IF i was in the "crazed mall situation" situation, i put a TANGO down, I wouldn't holster my weapon until i was sure that there no more TANGOs, meaning I've made an "after action" assesment and all is clear. SUL would allow you to move about "not sweeping" anyone and you get the extra added beni of being in control of your weapon and the perception would be less aggressive..........opposed to running around in low ready. win ...win, in my book.

Again...SUL is just a tool.....Open your minds people.

As for

running around in low ready

there is a decided difference between

running around

and taking whatever action is necessary to remove yourself (we are still talking CCW here) from danger.
