Hey CCWI
It suddenly occured to me that the firearms qual for security guards exposed firearm is so generic, it may only require that any certified firearms instructor can sign off on it. Is this correct?

The BSIS course isn't that hard for someone who practices regularly and takes it seriously...
We fail a small number of guards each month... they have to come back and try again, and again, and again.... the course is a little challenging with a revolver especially... those who shoot 10 round magazines have to manage the ammo or end up doing a reload with the gun in the left hand under time....the course is roughly as follows: (I'm too lazy to turn around in my chair and pull the outline off the shelf )15 yards - 6 rounds slow fire 30 sec. 7yards - 6 standing 8 kneeling 45 sec. 7 yards - 6 rounds with each hand, one handed shooting 25 sec. (with reloads!) 7 yards - 6 rounds in 10 sec. 3 yards - 3 rounds in 4 sec. - repeat 2 yards - 2 rounds in 3 sec. - repeat 2xs... all rounds have to be in the "bottle" of a "california B27" - We use the fbi/dea Q target and give them 1.5 inches over the top of the head to match the cal-b27 The course, as a matter of law, must be fired for a BSIS cert. instructor shooting under a BSIS firearms training facility license at a declared range.... We actually use the course... with exceptions for handicapped and with no time limits for our ccw courses... the students find it a little challenging.. some of them anyway
