Default On-Target's Pistol Matches

Nothing like a little adrenaline to wake you up at 8:00 in the morning.

For those of you in the SoCal area. On-Target Range in Laguna Niguel hosts Action Pistol on Wednesday nights and a posted match on the third Saturday of the month.

Greg who runs On-Target is trying to make the matches more interesting. Besides the standard Action-Pistol strings they are incorporating Rob Leatham's "Drillmaster" scenarios.

Interesting aspects of past shoots:
1) Required shots from the hip
2) Required off-hand shots from cover
3) Timed reload and shoot. You had to reload and put 3 shots into a target that was moving toward you with limited time.

Sure it is nothing like going to Norco, but I like to support my local range (I'm a member). Additional things:
1) The Saturday matches count towards their "Double-Tap" permit which would allow you to draw from holster and double tap. Unusual for an indoor range.
2) No classifiers or specific categories, just go and shoot. One person showed up with a revolver rig. I've seen some CCWs shoot with their IWB setups (I've done it too), as well as the full-on race rigs. Just go and shoot.
3) Whatever you think of the "training" aspect of IPSC or IDPA, On-Target's matches are an easy opportunity to test yourself and have fun.

If you're interested you might want to check with them. It is usually 10 bucks, less than 100 rounds, bring a strong-side holster, pistol and at least 3 mags.

See you there,
-Peter
