Thanks all. I just returned home from the range! What a good time that was. 200 rounds down range and loved every second of it. Now I gotta clean up the XD.

The biggest thing I need to concentrate on is not anticipating the trigger pull. The first round of every mag seems to be the worst??

What in gods name?
IS that you?

GUNS
ammo
eye/ear protection
data book for my rifle
ya thats about it

what range are you going too? Sac Valley is a good one, and A TON of good people work there. I have never been much on the range thing myself, I dont like to shoot around others (because I dont trust them, and dont want to get shot for something stupid they do) but Sac Valley is top notch A+!

Gunsmithing set, boresnakes for the calibers I'm shooting. Wooden dowel to pound out squib loads if needed....so far I've used it only on other peoples guns.

First aid kit, zip lock bags in case I can score some brass, guns, ammo, ammo, and more ammo. Paper targets, staple gun with extra staples. Spotting scope if I'm sighting in a rifle. cleaning kit, eye and ear protection sufficient for 3 people, in case I have some guests along. Chronograph. sunblock and bug spray.

I was about to set up a range bag myself and have gotten some pretty good ideas from this thread. Thanks guys for sharing.

BTW...would everyone PLEASE STOP COPYING THE THUMB PIC!!! I work as a bedside RN and I clean up blood, urine, and stool on a daily basis, but that thumb just keeps creaping me out.

Pretty much all the necessities have been covered, but I would add something to read if you are going to an indoor range, or an ipod or PSP...Something to keep you occupied if there is a wait for a lane

I rarely have to wait but I take a shotgun with me whenever I go. I'm gonna shoot one way or another. I usually start at the pistol range and finish on the trap range. But if there's a wait on the pistol range I switch it up.

The beauty of working shift work is you get to shoot during the week when hardly anybody else is shooting. Weekends get pretty crowded.

And don't lock your car keys in your range bag like I did. Geez I like to put my keys in my range bag while I shoot when I was finished I starting locking things up and realized I put the pad lock on the bag and had the keys in the bad. Good thing I got a ride to the range with my buddy, and had a spare at home.

With outdoor ranges, yes indeedy doo, bring another gun. On indoor ranges, the waits can get ridiculously long, so I usually bring something entertaining, instead of listening to the mall ninja stories about their guns and experiences :gag:
