Default TacFire?

Anyone have experience with training at TacFire with Dave Manning in Ventura county? I'm considering doing his CCW training course which seems much more intensive than other offerings. Thanks.

I have not taken Dave's course so have NO COMMENT on how good the courses are or not. However, I have met Dave on a couple of occasions and have talked with him.

He is like most everyone else you'd likely meet. He'd like to sell you what his business is about. He'd like to do the best job he can while working with you. Etc, etc, etc.

I personally find him a bit too much "special forces" for my taste. He is really really 'into' LEO training and it shows in his preferences. However, his range (IF he is still at Grant Park) is world's better than Shooters' Paradise in Oxnard for training purposes.

My impression as well after I spoke with him. Very hard sell, but I'm sure his training is excellent. I just did not want to spend 30 hours and 1000 rounds to qualify for CCW. I may take his courses in the future.

He did say I would need around 1000 rounds to qualify. Not possible with today's shortages, even if I do reload them.

One thing you should know about that I learned today while doing the quals for adding my Ruger to my permit:

Refugio Flores is one of the "approved" CCW instructors and he is going to have a 3 hr class on Saturday Sept 26th. The class is going to cover CCW tactics and some shotgun and basic force-on-force stuff. If you call him (his number is on "the list") I'm sure that he would be more than willing to send you the info for the class.

I'm going out of town (again ) and most likely won't be back in time to make the class. Otherwise I'd give it some serious consideration about attending.

Thanks for that. I already did my initial qualification with Refugio last week. I cannot make this class due to other commitments but I definitely plan to train with him again in the future.

I spent one day with Dave and his merry men. 1 day. I listened to what to what was brought out. I took that info back to a friend of mine in the know and learned why not to do it Dave's way.

If you want a great training not to far from Ventura, google itts.
