There is a class on July 11th at 9am. I will schedule a different time for my private class as it's not a good day for me....but if you (Medic) have that day off, I can get you some details.

Thanks for the reply but the 11th is a work day.

Best bet for me would be the 8th or 9th, the 14th or 18th and 19th, or the 23rd and 24th.

We've got a Medic out due to a back injury leaving us short staffed. I'm stuck with lots of overtime shifts, making it all but impossible to trade shifts or get a extra day off for awhile.

But the tax man loves me.

Okay. As soon as Dave calls me back, I will get some dates. First timer's need the "8 hour" class. Renewals, "4 hours".

Dates and prices would be good for up to 3 people?

So... it's an 8 hr course for initials?
I ask only as swmbo will eventually want to get the permit... we were in Reno two weeks ago... I guess we shoulda if we had only known...

I'd be interested also since my Fl permit won't be good anymore for Nv. Do you still have to come back to Nv after the course to get your permit or can you get it the same day?
Thanks
Jack

DETAILS:

Date: July 23, 2009 at 10:30am

The Class is at Sierra Firearms Academy -
50 Isidor Ct. Suite.203
Sparks, NEVADA 89441
Phone 775.425.1678
Spanish Springs Business Park

And shooting is at the Washoe County Sheriff's Range.

This is a PRIVATE CLASS, so it's priced higher, but the time is shorter and it's better. If you are concerned about price - they have public classes which take all day and you have to shoot with other people who may not know how to shoot or handle a gun.

Renewal cost is $85
First timers: $200
Add Utah $25

The Renewal is supposed to be 4 hours. The first time class is supposed to be 8 hours. Forget that. This is a special class for special people who don't want to sit all day and listen to droning about things we all understand already.

Please let me know if you're coming so I can inform the instructor.

So far I have 4 people including me. 1 Renewal and 3 first timers. The first timer class will be short.

You can take the class and apply at the Sheriff's dept. all in one day. The permit comes in the mail

Mark me down as a first timer-will be there.

Would want to deal with the Washoe Sheriff's department on the same day.

Any idea what the Sheriff's processing fee is and how much ammo should one bring for each firearm?

You have to shoot each autoloader you want on your permit. If you want a revolver, you can shoot just one because Nevada only requires you shoot one for any you put on your permit.

It used to be 50 rounds per gun. Because of the ammo shortage, that is out the window. Bring what you can per the instructor.

I don't remember what the processing fee is, but you can go to their website and check into it.

Count me in as a first time NV CCW. My Utah just became a card I keep in the drawer.

Weekdays are best for me!!

Thanks for putting it together.

I'm driving out to Nevada on the 23rd to the 26th. Will it be then? If not I would really enjoy being in this class, I need my non res! Do I fill out and turn in the app before the class? Or will everything be explained in the class? Sorry I'm new at this.
