Default CCW class in Humboldt County?

I`ve called at the two numbers I was given to inquire about a CCW class (not a renewal class though, I`ve never had a CCW permit before) and haven`t had any luck finding a class! Does anyone had any info on when/where a class might be taken, and who to contact about such a class? I don`t mind driving a ways, I am in McKinleyville just north of Eureka and I`ll pretty much go anywhere within a day`s drive.

(Although, at the rate that I`m getting anxious and impatient to take the class, I may be more willing to go further shortly...!!)

Call the Old West Shootery on 5th St and talk to Kevin - (707) 442-6312. He gives classes in the store periodically.

Another great place is Jones Fort in Redding (530) 222-3223 - they also do the Utah permit. Mendocino College in Ukiah has a CCW class too.

Hi Dragonfly.

Welcome to CalCCW.com!!!

I also live in Mckinleyville.

If you have not already tried Donald Spencer @707-839-2961 I recommend him highly.

Don is a retired CHP Captain and gives a very good CCW Class. He will cover everything the state requires and does not cut corners. Additionally, he will tailor his class to meet whatever other needs his students my have.

His rates are very reasonable and he is very responsive.

Thanks,

Poogsdad

P.S. Feel free to PM me if you wish, for more information.

Been fairly busy at work recently. Forced me into "Stealth Mode" for a while.

I'm glad to see you have been picking up my slack.

Thanks,

Poogsdad

Dragonfly

Hey Dragonfly... I think I know who you are, if you are the one that has the .45 a.c.p. pistol that was fired on the hilltop property up here.. And you had fired this "Gun Happy Marine's" Walther P-38 9mm, and the .22LR Browing Buckmark semi-auto pistols.

Fellows, if it is the same Dragonfly and I think that it is --> then Dragonfly is proficient in the use of their .45 a.c.p. pistol, in this Marine's opinion..

Dragonfly didn't I give to you the initial H.C.S.O. CCW application paperwork with the orange sheet on the front, that has all of the instructors phone numbers??

I know that Al Koog does his class only once a month.

The Old West Shootery may be the place to take the initial CCW training. The new license training is different than the renewal training. 50 rounds initial fired vs. 25 for renewal, etc...

Believe me if you are the same person. You are ready to take the training, and pass with flying colors..

Yep that`s me alright. I`ve been eh, sick, and having computer problems that hopefully are solved, and some other (non-relationship-type) problems as well that`s kept me from contacting you sooner, though I meant to. :/

Miss you... Hope you and mr kitty are doing alright up on the hill!

Yoda, as I stated above, Mr. Kitty should have a "SIR!" added when addressing him!! Mr. Kitty has completed advanced weapons training with a PA-63 in 9mm Makarov (9X18mm). We just haven't figured out how Mr. Kitty can carry concealed the semi-auto pistol, or how to easily swap out magazines...

Dragonfly - I though that was you.... No problemo, I know that you have been busy with life..

Folks ya'all better be polite to Dragonfly since they are now weapons qualified from a .22LR up to a .45 a.c.p. (but not on a Colt 1911 platform though). As I posted earlier - Dragonfly is ready to range qualify for a CCW license and go see the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office to get that piece of "rice paper". That is after attending an abbreviated Marine Corps style weapons course, here on the property..

Heh. Yea. migraine after migraine. Thinks I need some fresh mountain air and good company. Gotta give you a call one of these days..

Looks like I have secured myself a CCW class though. So excited!!! Not sure about being ready, I don`t think I have your confidence quite yet. I know it`s small, but my gun still feels giant in my hands. I`m not sure I have enough cases of bullets to get me comfortable with it. :/
