Default CCWI's Basic Handgun Course

Finally, and I mean finally, my wife decided it was time to take the Basic Handgun Course offered by Greg Block of Firearmstraining.com

My wife has not fired a firearm in over 20 years and today fired 250 rounds of 45 ACP. The attention CCWI and FI gave her was just what she needed to gain confidence and experience. By the end of the class she was double and triple tapping shots at left-center-right targets. She's actually talking about gaining more experience.

Thanks to the best firearm instructors I know.

R2D - I've never had the pleasure of taking any classes with Greg. I have, however, heard many good things about his classes and have read and heard reviews about his classes. I'm very glad that your wife had a great time learning from him and FI. Believe me, the next time I'm down in the OC area, I'm going to make it a point to take a class with him. I also hope that one day, my wife will also take that class. I doubt I'll ever get her to be pro-gun, but at least she'll learn to be safe.

I took that course 9-10 years ago and watched CCWI's team work with one anti that was brought just shy of kicking and screaming by friends. That's when I discovered that Greg's talent for bringing reluctant women into the fold is amazing. A combination of respect and trust and individual attention. By the end of the day she was thinking about buying her first gun. If anybody has a wife or girl friend that is reluctant to pick up a gun then CCWI and his team are probably your best hope.

I took the basic handgun course last summer and had a blast. I invited Sigman to join me for the trip from the Upper House, but he bailed. And because of Sigman bailing, I cleaned his clock in IDPA the following month- All because I took Greg's class and he did not.

That was the first time I triple tapped etc with a 45ACP. Just can't do that at most ranges.

I recomend it for everyone.

Although I have been through Greg's Advanced class (last year), I took the Basic again yesterday along with my three sons. We all had a great time! The boys are very pumped up after that and are looking forward to more classes.

Seriously, they are great...I'd entice you down here with Tritip, but we'd just be kidding ourselves if we pretended you would get any of it...

Greg is great, Julie is a jewel and the classes are priceless. I highly encourage people to take their classes.

Default Hello, everyone!

I'm new here, as well as a recent, and proud, owner of a S&W 1911. I live in Riverside, and I would be interested in any recommendations for classes that you all might have. I don't mind traveling; a couple of hours one way wouldn't be out of the question. Greg's class sounds like it would be a good one. Where can I learn more about it?

Long term, my plans are to attempt to obtain my CCW here in Riverside County. In the mean time, I'll be investigating the Utah/Florida/Nevada CCW route. Any advice in this regard would be welcome. I'm just an average guy, with an average job; nothing in particular sets me apart in that regard. However, I feel that as a law abiding citizen, I ought to be able to exercise my 2nd amendment rights, and I plan to take the steps necessary in order to reach that goal.

I've been trying to begin cataloging reasons for my GC statement, and I really can't think of any special need, other than wanting to insure that I can defend myself and my family; I find it interesting that this reason, alone is not sufficient. I do have a minor physical disability, however, and I was wondering if being more vulnerable to physical assault might be a card I could play. Any thoughts on that?

Thanks for your responses. Looking forward to reading them.

Kevin

CCWI's classes are held in Azusa and it's not a bad drive at all from Riverside.

Ok, I understand that most of you are in the LA area and a few of us up in the Northern Cal area don't get to meet with you all that much, but if I keep hearing about this "Tri-Tip" we just might have to make a road trip to get some.

Also, one more mention of El Gato's wifes baked cookies and it's on !!

You have been warned.

For those of you that asked, those links go to the website where you can get better information about CCWI's classes. The site may not be flashy, is possibly a little cheesy, but he's very much legit. He's been around a LONG time as an instructor. The guy KNOWS how to teach.
