Default OC Range Recommendation

I will be in Tustin & Anaheim 10:30-1:00 and thinking seriously about stopping by a range & make so noise, any recommendations from the locals?
I would like a place that rents but it is not mandatory just interested in trying a Glock & XD sub’s.

Thanks

You can try
Firing Line - Huntington Beach
Evan's Shooter's World - Orange
On Target - Laguna Niguel
Orange County Sheriff Department Range - Anaheim (believe is still public but may not be open on Sundays)

Here is a link to try Where to Shoot in Orange County, California

I'll leave the local recommendations to the folks down there, but if you can rent an XD .40 Sub Compact, I'd guess you'll wind up liking it a lot. And if you're a Glock fan, you'll REALLY like the XD for having a natural point of aim and just feeling good in your hand.

Evans is probably your best bet since you will be in Tustin and Anaheim.

the natural point of aim is what i have heard from many on-line about the XD. i own a 1911 Springfield and i was told the XD has the same feel. i dont own a Glock but all i hear is good (except from Dxxx on the SBCSD SWAT) i guess as of a couple of weeks ago they are leaving there Glocks for Kimbers. Dxxxx said the Glocks did not hold up to the +p rounds. they were putting a few hundred rounds through one in a week. Dan still talks up the Glock; highly recommends it.

Not all Glock fans like XDs; they don't fit my hand as well, and they don't point as well for me - but my "natural point of aim" is accustomed to the Glock angle.

You can also try Orange County Indoor Shooting Range in Brea; they have a good selection of rental guns.

thanks i appreciate the help.

i was not able to find a range (in short notice) that had an XD for me to try. i just went to my local range (Magnum) and made some noise. i am still very interested in finding a range with an XD to try before i make up my mind. right now i am ridding the fence between the glock 27 and the XD .40. i hear both good and bad on both but also on both the good seems to outweigh the bad. i like the idea of the rail on the XD but i dont know if i would ever use the rail. the glock has a great history and is supported in various different markets.
i have taken my choices down to these two and if anyone even tries to get me to consider a third option...well...

i will try the Orange County Indoor Shooting Range and see if they have an XD sub.

I am also picking up on the idea that all the ranges seem to have the Glocks but not the XD.
Well I have to amend that, I did not specifically ask if the range has a G27, it may be the G19 that the range has.
dang, now i need to recall the ranges and see if they have any sub-compacts. that may be my mistake, i was asking for the XD sub. i may just have to try the compact versions and hope i like the sub version of whichever brand i choose.

still any range recommendations would be appreciated.

thanks

I know The Firing Line in Huntington Beach has XDs there. Both in 40 and 45 I believe. Pretty much any range that rents guns will have Glocks.

I wasn't suggesting that ALL Glock fans like XDs. I could have stated that differently. Maybe one of these days I'll learn to NOT suggest to anyone that they might want to try an XD and why most users I've talked to like them; natural point of aim, good ergonomics (better than Glocks according to SOME of the converts), but then again, I must like being on the receiving end of a flamethrower.

The firingline in HB has a XD9 (4" barrel) rental. Also 2 or 3 glocks in 40, not sure of glock numbers.

InSight in Cerritos has very large selection of rentals. They have an XD sub, not sure if it was 9 or 40.

If you are not a member you will need to bring someone with you to rent.

Likely, you can rent if you also bring your own handgun as proof that you don't need theirs. They're worried about suicides. Inasmuch as you're interested in purchasing, I'm certain that they'd be interested in letting you try out some of the guns of interest.

Although you're comment makes some sense, for clarification, The Firingline in Huntington Beach will not rent guns to non-members who are alone, regardless if you bring in your own gun or not.

If you sign up for membership, you still need to wait 24 hours before you can rent guns as a member and being alone.

So, again, if you are a non-member, if you wish to rent guns, you need to bring at least one other person to shoot.
