Simpson Range reopened yesterday!!
Physically there have been no changes to the range, however, there are now some restrictions on the Range Fan and the ranges at which you can shoot. Previously it was possible to shoot a range fan of over 180 degrees from some areas of the firing line. While it is still safe to do so, it is no longer allowed. A range fan of 30 - 40 degrees, similar to most commercial ranges is now in place. Fortunately the only shooters that are affected by this restriction are the Cowboy Action and IPSC shooters. Previously it was possible to shoot at targets in excess of 600 yards. The maximum range now permitted is 300 yards. The most obvious changes are in the aggressive enforcement of the new safety rules which have been formalized and documented. There is also a zero tolerance policy regarding operational rules such as presenting a current membership card prior to being allowed to shoot and limiting the number of guests to one per current SRA member shooting. Some physical changes to the range will be occuring over the next few months as well as new operational rules regarding expectations and responsibilities of SRA Members and Range Masters. Overall, however, the changes will be minimal as far as the average SRA Member is concerned. I will continue to let you know whatever I can, when I can. I appreciate your continued patience and support. Thanks again, Poogsdad |

Simpson Range was incorporated as a new non-profit business and renamed.
The old Simpson Range Association is now the "Long Prairie Gun and Archery Club". More changes are being worked on behind the scenes, however there are no noticable changes to the range presently, other than the stricter enforcement of Safety Rules and a higher standard of maintenance. We have a new website up: long prairie gun and archery club. Our website is still being developed, however, it does have a schedule of events posted, an Application for Membership and an informational document for perspective Club Members. Directions to the Range area also on the website as well as the ability to contact Club Officers and Members of the Board of Directors. As before I will continue to share as much information as I can, when I can. Thanks, Poogsdad Disclaimer: Consistent with CalCCW.com restrictions regarding self-promotion I am an Officer of the Long Prairie Gun and Archery Club. |

I'm a member of the LPGAC, and this is the first I heard of the new website. I actually came to this link hoping to send you a PM to ask if you had the 2010 calendar... I'll see you up there on a weekend sometime soon, I'm sure... Bimmer |
