Since it bounced off the wall first, it could have been any firearm, really. I had an HK send one down the back of my shirt once too :-D

I was practicing drawing from my IWB holster and double/triple taps with my Ultra CDP the other night at Evans. "thank you CCWI " On one double tap round I had two shell casing go straight back into my face. It was like slow motion as they came at me. luckily I did not get burned as they bounced off my eye protection that I was VERY VERY happy I was wearing.

Who said shooting is not a contact sport???

Well, two things happened.

1) It was the BEST day I have ever had in 22 years of shooting! I hit the sweet spot each and every time. No misses, all in the 10 ring from various distances. Even my buddy was amazed. I don't know if it was the firearm or me or the hand of God but I shot my best ever. 225 rounds and all on target. I was sending them down range into one inch groups, sometimes through (or around) the same hole. Unbelievable. I felt great. On top of the world.

Until...

2) I had a one in a million accident. Well, it seems that Glocks like to throw brass ALL OVER THE GODDAMN PLACE!!!!! Mostly back at me. Also with a hell of a lot of velocity. Well, one, very HOT, spent case flew back, hit the booth wall and bounced through the TOP of my shooting glasses and got stuck between the lens and the corner of my eye!!! Now, talk about training under stress. I managed to keep my firearm pointed down range, removed my finger from the trigger and yank my glasses off... all while screaming like a little girl (apologizes extended to my shooting sisters for the reference). I now am the proud owner of a blister 1/2 inch from my eye ball. It could have cost me an eye.

From now on, I'll wear goggles.
Glad you were didn't loose your eye.

Maybe time to switch to a revolver. You can send your Glock to me, I'd be happy to take one for the team

Glad you like shooting the G23. My 1st Glock was a G27 and it's still the one I carry more than the others.
As for ejecting the brass in your face, that can and does happen with any auto loader. Glocks are no worse than other pistols. Good eye protection is a must.
While a tuned 1911 or "O" fame if you prefer is more accurate than a factory stock Glock, for me the simplicity, dependability and economy of operating a Glock makes it great choice for daily carry. Besides, at three to seven yards Glocks are plenty accurate.

True statement, in my book. Glock 27 is the gun that has racked most packing time lately.

Default Glock 23

As the proud owner of some combat tupperware (Glock 23) and having shot about 10k rounds through glocks I can say good safety glasses are a must, and if shooting outdoors don’t be on the right. I gave my father a nice burn on the neck during a rapid fire drill. Glocks are very predictable, they shoot consistently, take abuse, and rain shells as consistently as they shoot.

At least I didn't make him walk home from Burro!

On topic - good eye protection and a hat with a close fitting brim are an excellent investment in self-defense. You won't catch me shooting without them and of course a close neck shirt to keep the brass out.

I found a neat brass catcher on midwayusa.com's website for handguns. It says it's a discontinued item but anyone who is handy with mesh fabric and some wire can make one.I think I might make one since I like to reload and not go hunting for my spent brass.

I've had a couple of hot ones from my .45 go down my shirt too.
Talk about doing the" hot-brass-down-my-shirt-I-feel-stupid" dance...

Yeah that happened to me too, I had one get me on the forehead, Another went down my shirt and as I tried to get it out it went into my shorts I have never set a gun down so fast & safely, luckily it was the last round (while pointed down range). I was dancing around like an idiot.

Goodtimes

I got a perfect circle burn on my arm from a hot round. I had a nice brand for about a month. It's finally gone away. The perfect badge to go to the NRA convention with last month! LOL

Please don't ask me how I know this. I hate talking about the "less macho" moments in my life.

Thanks,
