Default Outdoor Shooting Ranges close to Eureka

Anyone use the outdoor shooting ranges close to Eureka? I've been to Redwood Gun Club a few times but that is it. A friend of mine told me about Simpson Range out by Blue Lake. How is it for pistol practice?? (and rifles, of course)

Hi Tom98915, I am a Rangemaster out at Simpson Range. We have a great facility that I can quite comfortably recommend. We have a pistol range that permits shooting out to 100 yards and a rifle range that allows shooting out beyond 600 yards.

The following links provide some information about Simpson Range:

Please feel free to PM me if you have any additional questions or would like to arrange a tour of the range.

Thanks,

Hi Guys,

A co-worker and I (we're both HSU faculty) are headed to the Redwood Gun Club tomorrow afternoon.

Then we're headed to the Simpson Range on the 30th... Donald Spencer is taking us there to do our firearms qualification (my CCW interview is 3 December).

I can't believe I've lived in Humboldt County two years, and I'm only now getting a CCW and finding the Simpson Range.

How does one become a member at the Simpson Range?

Have a nice day,

Bimmer

Tom - that is no longer the Simpson Timber range, but now known as the "Green Diamond" range out on Hwy 299 East of Blue Lake.. I go there with Al Koog for my CCW qualifying. Nice place to shoot, and when they have the "cannon shoots" that is something to see...

Of course you can expend all of the ammunition to your heart's content up in the Six River's National Forest further East on Hwy 299 towards Willow Creek and beyond.....

Then there are the HSU university kiddies whom occasionally come and do their illegal shootin' up here at the top of Fickle Hill, on some of the Green Diamond logged over private timber property near my place.

Changed their name to Green DIamond...ok.

I went up there recently with a friend of mine. That is a pretty decent range. I like how they have all the targets set up at various distances.

And, I got my dinosaur of a scope all figured out on my .243. Hitting that 600yd target up the hill is fun...

Now that I have brass and bullets for my .32 Remington I will have to go again.
