Cheap practice round emulating Buffalo Bore 38+p
I worked up (or should I say worked down) a .357 loading that emulates the external ballistics of the 38+P Buffalo Bore 158gr FBI load (my favorite for the 340pd). At a few pennies less than $.20/round it is a viable practice alternative to the "real deal" Hits to same point of aim with recoil indistinguishable from BB out of a 1 7/8" barrel. Lots of flash (hey it's practice), slightly dirty since H110 doesn't burn clean at lower pressures, but not as dirty as bullseye powder.
This will only work for those j frames chambered in .357, so j frame users who have dedicated 38, read no further. TRYING TO DO THIS IN A 38 CASE WILL BE DANGEROUS...DON'T DO IT.
