Default To introduce myself and request some guidance!

Hello all,

First, I appreciate the opportunity to be involved.

I am a Californian that has recently moved back to CA from Indiana (originally from LA county), and currently I reside in Riverside county. I have a CCW permit in Indiana, however since there is no reciprocity in CA, this means nothing here. Lovely. Well, in a conversation with the deputy that handles the CCW permits for the county of Riverside, I realized that virtually NO reason I gave for wanting a CCW here was worth anything. Although he was quite sympathetic to my request, and lambasted the liberals that are ruining our state for the situation we face today, he told me in no uncertain terms that I had no chance of being granted a permit, based upon the current laws and mindset.

I flatly refuse to accept this answer, with all due respect to the deputy that was seemingly on my side of the problem. He is only enforcing the law as presented to him from our wacky liberal state, and the decisions made for my county by the Sheriff and others.

This being said, I am determined to receive a permit from my county. I am a VERY strong proponent of the 2nd amendment to our U.S. Constitution. If it was up to the states to decide these things, it would NOT be in the Constitution of the United States (10th amendment).

I would GREATLY appreciate ANY advice that could be given to let me actually execute the rights given me (and everyone else) so many years ago.
This is a travesty at the least, and a violation of my rights in general.

Let me say I LOVE California, and always have. It is one of the most beautiful states in the Union. I do not want to abandon her. She is my home. But the way the state is governed, and the decisions made by the legislature (not on our behalf), is totally unacceptable. This is a nationwide problem now, as should be obvious to anyone with any concept of Liberty and the Republic that was formed so long ago. I do not know if it is possible to bring CA back to common sense and enforce things that actually matter to it's inhabitants,
I hope and pray so. The rule of the People seems to have been usurped by those that believe they know what is best for Us. How arrogant. The hubris they convey to those they supposedly represent. It HAS to change.

I am sorry if my viewpoint offends anyone, but I am NOT sorry for how I feel and for what is obvious to me.

Anyone that wishes to respond, PLEASE do so,

Respectfully,

N2theRepublic

welcome!

unfortunately Riverside county is not very likely to issue a ccw permit these days. that deputy was correct in a way.

but that should not stop you from applying.

get the CCW application and look it over and go from there

also...

if you live in the city, Riverside; then you apply with the Chief of Police.

if you live in an un-incorporated city within Riverside County; then you apply directly to the Sheriffs dept.

Thanks for the comments!
I live in La Quinta, which IS incorporated.
All I can do is try, I suppose.
I REALLY need some advice as to what to put in the application, though.
Thanks!

Move to San Bernardino county, otherwise, it doesn't look good in Riverside.

Will Rogers said, "There's three kinds of people.
There's them that can learn from others,
There's them that can learn from books,
And there's them that has to whiz on the electric fence for themselves."
I prefer to be one of the first two kind and to learn from others' mistakes.

Welcome home and to the site. Go ahead and get your application, check out the requirements and start thinking about what makes you different than the major portion of the population in regards to needing self defense. There is a book. How to own a gun and stay out of jail that is a good start on layman's interpretation of the states gun laws. Not to mention plenty of good reading here.
