Welcome to the forum, Alex.

While the main focus of this forum is CCW, there are folks here that carry/shoot everything short of thermo-nuclear devices. We have several FAQ sections that deal with County issuance policies, firearms dealers as well as vendors of handgun accessories. Take some time to use the "search" function for the specifics of your interests. I'm certain you'll find where a member has posted something about what you looking for. Even Glocks.

Oh my, asking for thoughts on Glocks here is like asking about Apple Macs on a computer board. You should get no shortage of answers.

Now, I consider myself fairly unbiased on the subject (cough cough), OK I admit that I like Glocks. I might even have one or two... or more... but I will tell you they are not for everyone and they are not for every purpose.

So why don't you give us some idea of how you plan to use said Glock, what you find attractive about it, etc. and several of us will opine on the subject and no doubt offer alternative choices that you may find interesting.

And, BTW, welcome to the board!

Default Glock Line, Model 22

I am currently enrolled in a Police Academy but have not yet begun the firearm training/testing. I want something that is easy to handle, im not sure how ****%y my aim is these days.....used to be decent last time i checked, but at the same time i want something powerful and high quality. Only fire arms ive ever shot were a .44 Magnum S&W and a few Hk's.......i like the HK's, just not the price for now......i got two young ones at home so guns arent a priority on our need to buy list.......

Well, congrats on heading into law enforcement. I think in that case I will ask some of our LE experts to chime in and give you their perspective.

Glock 22's...
They shoot good and works with about any ammo you feed it. Farily popular and seem to be the weapon of choice for many a law enforcement agency here in the USA, and world wide. It's the big brother (larger frame and longer barrel )to the Glocks 23 & 27.

I think the G22 is a fine "duty" weapon, but most will find it too large to carry CCW every day... For that, I use the G27. I have family members who carry the G23 CCW, and like that gun a lot.

Like anything, some people love em, and some hate em. I'm sure the "haters" (he said jokingly ) will be along tell you all the bad stuff.

IMHO, for the money, it's a good weapon.

Actually I was sorta kidding. Though there are dozens of people on the board that own them "primarily for concealed carry". For your needs that would not be a good choice. Though Kimber does have models of firearms that would fit your needs perfectly.

Really think about what kind of platform you like. The Ultra CDP II is based on the O-Frame or 1911 platform. Grip safety and thumb safety. With a single action trigger. Trigger pull is straight back verse hinged on Glocks.

Glocks have all 3 of their safeties on the trigger and the trigger is double action only. Trigger pull is somewhere between a 1911 and a double action revolver. Glocks are reliable good guns.

My advice try to shoot a gun on each platform to see what you like. Try shooting different calibers too.

I would also venture you might want to see what platform the department you are being hired by is using.

Check out the Glock 23. The Glock 22 will be tough to carry concealed. The 23 is a great trade off.

You might even want to check out the Glock 19. Same as the 23 but in 9mm. If you plan on shooting a lot. The 40S&W ammo is almost as expensive as 45ACP these days.

Or go with the 45ACP. Glock 30SF is within that same size.

For semi auto, I have a Benelli M4. It's an all around great SG, well balanced and accuarate. A great gun but they are expensive... A Remington 1100 is a good gun too. The Remi doesn't have the "cool" factor, but it comes at a much lower price, and will do about anything you'd want a semi auto to do.

For good old fashion pumps, there's a long list of good, dependable guns to choose from. Remi 870's, Winchester Denfenders, Benelli Nova, and Mossberg offer a good boomer at a good price... The basic guns will be in the $350 range... (some a little less) and all are available in tactical black.... (Not really needed, but there is that cool factor that everyone seems to want)... and all can be found in 18" - 20" barrels...

Start with the basic gun and over time add lights, extended tubes, pistol grips, slings, etc., That way you end up with a good little gun you didn't spend a fortune to build.
