Welcome gr8fatman. My brother lives in Redding and he's had his permit for about 6-8 years now. He said the process was straight forward and that Shasta Co. is effectively shall-issue.
Good luck with the process. I've got to get back to the Fall River sometime soon.

Thanks everybody. Yea, those mile high ice cream cones from the Alpine will be the death of me. Burney is a small mountain town north of Redding. I'm a kid from the OC. Man I really hate that!
 I guess that Shasta County is the SC? Very Lame! Anyway, my wife & I grew up in Anaheim, then moved to Moreno Valley after we married. Ended up in Burney 8 years ago, and we're loving it.
