I am a new member from Bakersfield Ca. I am interested in getting a CCW for my job. The problem is that my job takes me to some pretty unfavorable areas in Los Angeles County, and others in California. Will a CCW issued in Kern County work statewide?, or do need to apply in all counties that I work in?

Welcome, donron1!

A permit issued in Kern county is good statewide. You need to apply in the county (or in some cases, in the city) where you live. Kern is a good place to apply!

Please hang out, read the FAQs, and learn. When you're ready to write up your Good Cause statement DO NOT POST IT HERE, PM it to CCWI for review.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Hi and Welcome to the forum. I also spent time in LA and feel your pain.

Welcome donron1.

You live in the right place at the right time. Kern County is the No.1 issuing county in the State.
Stick around and do your homework before applying. Type up a good cause letter describing why you should be issued a ccw. Do NOT post the letter here.

I am not familiar with the Kern County process in details, others here are and will hopefully chime in later. If you use your employment as cause the issuing agency may require a letter from your employer, unless you are self employed.

Good luck with the process.

Welcome to the Forum. It sounds like you shouldn't have problems getting your CCW License - the senior members here, particularly CCWInstructor, will show you the way.

It is really sad, isn't it, that while a guy that lives in Kern County might primarily want a permit because he has to go to LA, a person that lives in LA has little chance of getting one.

good luck.

I should have mentioned, we have several Bakersfeldian members, I'm sure they'll be along with details.

Welcome to the best site for CCW issuance help in California.

I can only echo the sentiments of the previous posters in regards to your good cause, make sure it is your own and send it to CCWInstructor for his review.

The nice thing about Kern county is that the good cause can be many different things. When I received my license in 2007 there was not an interview process either, you turned in your application and were approved or denied based on that. I do not know if this has changed with Sheriff Youngblood.

The best I can do is offer you well wishes,

-Kurt
