Default Hi from Sac

Just wanted to say Hello to everyone on this forum. A friend recently pointed me in this direction.

Yes, I live in Sacramento, and I know it's impossible to get a CCW here, but I will be moving up to Placerville in about a year, (already have my property to build) once I build my house up there. Actually, all my siblings and parents are moving up there as well and we are all hoping to obtain our CCW's at some point.

I've been shooting since I was 12 years old when my dad bought me my first .22 Lever Action, and I just turned 35. Just wanted to say that this is a great site for what I've seen so far. Looking forward to learning all that I can for everyone on this site.

Thanks,

Welcome aboard Greg. Good Luck building your new house. I'm in the process right now myself. Prices are good for building these days

I used to live in the Greenhaven/Pocket district. Good luck with the move!

I actually live in Greenhaven/Pocket right now and work in Rancho.

I just found out that my friend isn't even on this board. He lives in SF, so there's no chance of him every getting his CCW.

Sigman - I heard that building materials are dirt cheap right now. Can't beat the interest rates, just hope that they stay low for a while longer. Gotta apply for a construction loan, but we're currently waiting for our 20 acres to split. Should be about 3 months or so as we just submitted our tree study to the county. FYI, my whole family picked up 20 acres 2 miles north of P-ville, are splitting into 5 acres a piece and each building houses. It should be quite cool once we're all up there. Brother-in-law is from P-ville. Was thinking about looking into burying one of our 40' high cube containers for an underground indoor shooting range. That's a lot of digging though.

Greg,

You may have already checked into this, but they've had a moritorium in El Dorado County for quite a while on sub-dividing property... Good luck to you though - nice to have some more shooting neighbors!

1Buba,

I know about the moratorium and property splitting for El Dorado Co, but we've already talked with the county and from what it looks like, approval for the lot split will most likely happen, and an in fact a few people in the county have expressed they think it's a great idea to have the whole family move up to the area. I'm hoping that everything goes smoothly as you can imagine.

Thanks,

I hope so too!

El Dorado is an intersting place. WONDERFUL folks. Building dept on the other hand, in the past, has REALLY been bad. Lots of pay-offs and underbuilt houses. LOTS of lawsuits. I'm not sure what its like currently - Siggy will know better.

Maybe we can hook up behind Sly Park or out at Sac Valley to go shooting some time!

I'd like to hook up one of these days. Not sure where Sly Park is, and I haven't been out to Sac Valley before either. Usually my shooting is done in a hillside near our cabin in Truckee. That way, I can practice my holster work without anyone giving me a hassle.

Sly Park is actually Jenkin's Lake. It's just out side of Pollack Pines - about 15 minutes east on 50 from Pville. I'm glad someone knows less about the area than me! lol

Look up a restaurant up here- called the Purple Place. Used to be a dive - a friend bought it. Nice place - not fancy, VERY kid friendly. Just good people.
