Greetings, salutations

Hey how's everyone doing. Socaler here, who migrated over from calguns.net. I go by eagle87tango or 87t. It's my callsign at work for those who ask. I am a training analyst at Ft. Irwin california, and live in barstow. I'm interested in obtaining a CCW and couldn't think of a much better place to start. Is there anyone here from the barstow area who has obtained one? Well, add one more gun nut to the roster, and I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Regards,

E87T

Asleep? I think not! Welcome to the forum e87t, nice to have you. I do not know much about the Barstow area, but the "sleeping beauties" of the high desert knowledge will no doubt cast weigh in tomorrow.

I am awake, but getting pretty hungry, might end my work day as my stomach growls get louder!!!

Welcome 87T.

CalGuns is a great place for general stuff, but for CCW, you can't beat this site.

Welcome to CalCCW and Thank You for your service to our Country.

Hey gents. I have a question in regards to another type of permit other than ccw. I was reading the FAQ section of the department of justice website and came across this

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the DOJ website:

Are there any exemptions to the waiting period?

For most people - no. However certain exemptions do exist for the following:

A) For most people - no. However certain exemptions do exist for the following:

B) Firearms dealers and persons who have obtained special weapons permits issued by DOJ are exempt from the waiting period.
C) Persons with curio and relic collector's licenses issued by the ATF and who have a valid Certificate of Eligibility issued by the DOJ are exempt from the waiting period only when purchasing curio and relic firearms.
(PC sections 12078 (a)(r)(t))

I'm refering here to section B. What are these special weapon permits? How difficult is it to get one? Does anyone have one?

I would be willing to bet CCWI might have a special weapons permit.

It looks like you are in an issuing county, so you may be in luck with a decent Good Cause. We have many here from San Berdo county so you ar4 in good company.

There are a couple different types of special weapons permits. Very few people have one, let alone all 3!

Default Welcome aboard Barstow

Thats what I'm talking about, the high desert is growing. I think this site is the best. I've researched the other ones and there cool, but this outranks them all. Good info and experiences from everyone is what I like.

Welcome to the forum. I'm just a touch south of you and picked up my app last week. The forum has great info on the San Bernardino County process and tip. Good luck on the process.

I flew a few mission down the valley of death in the mid-80s at Ft Irwin.

If you are interested in purchasing collectables, you can get the Curio and Relic license from the BATFE for about $30. Check Collecting and Shooting the Military Surplus Rifle (2006) - Surplusrifle.com for the specifics on how to obtain the license. (CA defines C&R guns as those on the ATF list AND the gun must have been made more than 50 years ago).

The Certificate of Eligibility is then obtained from the CA DOJ. You will not be able to buy modern firearms without the wait. However, I'm told it will exempt you from the one handgun per 30 day rule - but I've not tried it.
