Well, I am not entirely new here, but by no means am I a senior member. So I will take the new guy title and wear it with honor. I do however have an appointment for an interview coming up fast. I have a very rough draft of my GC, and am getting letters and contact info organized to go along with my application.
I understand that my GC is mainly going to be discussed in the interview, but my plan is to have one printed that will convey the points that I plan to make, so that I not only get everything spoken that I wish to, but can also allow the interviewer to read and keep a copy for the sake of clarity. As this is my "introduction" thread I would like to compliment everyone who has had a hand in forming this site and making it what it is. This is an excellent place to discuss topics in an adult manner. That plus all of the members here who are so generous with their substantial knowledge makes for an excellent place to hang out. Thanks |

Having your good cause written out an printed is absolutely the way to go. I was turned down the first time I applied. The second time - 3 years later - my cause was exactly the same, but I'd written it out, had it reviewed by the senior members here, and had it ready. In my interview I opened my binder to that page, started to read it, and the interviewer said "Oh, you have it written, can I just take a copy?" I was approved 2 weeks later.

How 'bout that!
Goin' to a class on April 19th. No word yet on the background check, but I am patient. According the FAQ for my county, that means that most of the steps are out of the way except for more waiting. I don't know what the average time is for a background check, but I was told that it could take 90 days. Anybody else signed up for the class on April 19? |

Sorry for not telling the whole story.
I went in for my interview, and livescan in Feb, and now have the class scheduled. I did lean on CCWI's knowledge quite a bit while working over my GC letter. He was a tremendous help, and a couple of other members also helped me a lot. I'd like to thank everyone who helped me. Now I am waiting for the class and back ground check before I hunker down for the final wait. Thanks Nate |

Logics dictate that if the interviewer schedules you for a future safety/qualification class at the end of your interview, that things are seemingly on track. Good Luck to both of you!
It will still take a few months after the class for you to hear about it. |

Don't forget regular training with a good instructor. Getting the paper is only one part of the equation. |
