Hi all,

Noob to the forum, not a noob to the firearms community. I've been involved in the shooting sports for a little over 15 years, starting right after I turned 21. I took a bit of a hiatus for a while, and then decided I'd look into trying to do it a bit less expensive by obtaining my C&R license and going for some of the older stuff without the hassles - well that C&R license has opened up a whole new hobby (and expense) that seems to be outpacing just the ol' shooting - collecting!! Oh yeah, collecting AND shooting!! Oh wait, it's collecting, shooting, and restoring! So much for doin' it on the cheap.

Anyway, I find myself carting around all of these different rifles I've been collecting to different ranges, and what not, finding myself a bit nervous about it - so I started researching the CCW - lo and behold I found this forum, and was even more happy to find I live in a county where I may actually have a shot at a CCW?!?!?!

I'm looking forward to researching more, getting some pointers from those "in the know" on good cause, and then some tips on where to go for the required CCW training if I'm blessed with an approval.

Cya around!!

NH

Sounds like you are on track. The FAQ's will most likely answer your questions, but if you don't find the answer, just ask and someone will try and help you out.

Welcome aboard

Welcome aboard. And with the way the price of ammo is going it's not getting any cheaper.

It sounds as if you are headed in the right direction and having fun at the same time.

Welcome to the forum from the Central Valley, naganthunter.

Until I read your post and did a search I wasn't aware of a license for C&R. My guess would be there are a lot of folks with the same interest.

You've come to the best place on the Internet for California CCW information as well as a good source for training resources and camaraderie.

Enjoy.

Default Thanks!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

If there's anyone interested in how to get a $30 license from BATF to mail order collectable rifles in CA (you can get handguns too, but they still must go to a full FFL dealer) I'm happy to point you in the right direction.

The other cool thing is you get on lots of mailing lists for firearms dealers and importers. Makes for great "library" (ie bathroom) reading!
