Yes, read through the Riverside County specific portion of the county FAQ area here if you haven't already. The process for our county is spelled out very clearly, pretty much step by step. Regarding your rough draft GC statement: As I am sure you've read, we never publicly discuss GC specifics. What I did, once I had a rough draft like you have, is PM'd a couple of members and got a little feedback before sending it off to Greg (CCWInstructor here on our board) for final critique and polishing. In my experience, people here are very willing to help. You will find the CCW Unit of the RCSD to be very professional and helpful, and the Sheriff has set up a very fair and honest system for our county. So start getting all your documents together, finish up your GC and go for it. |

Okay... I am determined to get my ccw and join all of you law abiding "sheep dogs" in California. But I must say I am starting to get discouraged. I start to get positive feedback on my good cause. Next, I receive a couple PM's that confuse me into thinking I may not be able to. Please excuse the rant. :-) I need to be steered in the right direction to understand where I am headed with my wording. Thanks to all !

Thanks Mark. Yes I did send to Greg, I am very appreciative of him taking the time to respond to me and I would Luke to take some courses with him. His response was "Your good cause is for personal protection and self defense. Riverside does not issue for that." I did not write "personal protection" or "Self Defense". What I am confused about: isn't every reason self defense or personal protection, even if the words don't say that specifically?
