Post New Member (Lancaster, north L.A. county, God help me!)

Lived in the Antelope Valley for most of the last 40 years... was introduced to firearms in the U.S. Navy, and am just returning to the handgun party after an extended absence.

I'm a high school teacher, a theatre geek, and the soon-to-be owner of a Kimber Pro Carry II. I don't feel compelled to carry concealed, but would like the option; sometimes it seems a prudent choice. Don't know how that's going to play out in Los Angeles County, but first things first; I need to re-familiarize myself with handguns and get comfortable with my new shiny.

Under current circumstances, I imagine a CCW permit is unlikely. I'll be following the issue closely, though... and if good writing skills can be of use, let me know; writing's one of my strengths.

Welcome to the forum, draagen.

I'm not familiar with the willingness to issue a permit to someone living in the desert where you are, but I wish you the best in your quest for this right and desire.

There are like-mended members here that are extremely supportive and willing to guide you in the right direction.

Thank You For Your Service To Our Country.

Welcome to the Forum! Given you have listed your location as Lancaster, LA County, your chances of getting a CCW are pretty darned poor as you still are in LA County. Essentially, you're sooo close, but too far from another county that does issue more liberally than LA County. We have many members in your shoes, myself included. I like where I live, but I'm essentially in a zero issue county. The worst part is that if I moved just 30 minutes in almost any direction, my chances of getting a CCW greatly improve.

Sorry to be the bad news bearer, but hang in there!

All you have to do is move to the North side of Avenue A.
