How about a stun / taser gun? You can legally carry it anywhere in California. This is probably going to be my next option if I cannot get a CCW in Los Angeles. The guns will continue to stay at home, locked up in the gun safe, useless. How quickly can you really get to your gun safe and unlock it, then load your gun and present while the perp is about to enter your room?

You can keep your gun loaded in your home.

They have agreed with the frustration, and have told me that they "know I will be denied" and quite frankly, I'm tired of being the target. Pepper spray did nothing to the last guy.....

I'll go to the SO, and see what they say. Thanks for the help..... I knew what response i would get from the post, but the opinions made more sense coming from others.......

As for uco, I can draw; eject an empty; load and chamber in less than 1.5 seconds.... So with training, it can be helpful. But it just draws too much attention. Which is very unwanted...
I am curious, if you have been mugged/jumped as you describe why in the world would you NOT report it so you can have such a record of for just this type of situation????

As far as your 1.5 seconds, I hope you attacker is well more then 21 feet away.

Your describing a normal heart beat no elevated stress level with an attacker closing on you or you family member.

Just think about it for a bit.

Your Open Carry could be seen as more of a "RAMBO" style action & could hurt your chances of a CCW in the near future.

And as stated, do not mention you presently do OC.

The police would not come. RPD told me to come down to the station and file a report. When I got to the station, they said the usual, cancel what you can, and I was only out $100 so the perp if caught would only get a few days for it..... So it probably wasn't worth my time......... So i left disappointed, and felt betrayed. That's when I started learning the laws...... I have no real good cause that I feel would pass the mustard.....

Unloaded Open Carry... Not a good idea. Why? It takes about 21' for someone to decide, draw, aim, and fire at someone who is advancing toward you. Inside that distance, a person can get "inside" your OODA loop and do grave harm to you before you clear leather. Add time that it takes you to load and chamber, and you're probably looking at 30-35 feet...

I carry concealed so that I can get inside someone else's OODA loop. Trust me, I don't look armed when I'm carrying... Fortunately, I've not had to consider clearing kydex. I hope I never have to.

If you were actually robbed (mugged same thing) as in they took from your person that is a felony and they would get a lot longer than any few days they would be looking at years. I can't see the police not coming out for that.

yeah, it doesn't matter if they took an empty water bottle from you, as long as it was yours (or you were lawfully in possession of it), and they did it by means of force or fear, it constitutes Robbery, which is a felony worth at least 2 years in prison.

I was under the impression that Riverside was one of the easier counties to get a CCW in??? Why not apply, write a kick ass good cause statement, and work hard like many others have on this site to obtain your legal right to carry concealed? Seems like you have already thrown in the towel without going through the motions. Good luck to you and I hope you get one soon.

Easy I wouldn't go that far possible most definitely but only if you try.

XD is talking about Riverside PD not county. Riverside SO is one of the good guys. Chadwick is right. Instead of coming here and bemoaning your bad luck, RPDs lackadaisical attitude regarding perps committing multiple felonies upon you, and your inability to defend yourself, how about SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION! Huh?

I tire of people coming here and whining about how they can't avail themselves of their moral and legal right to defend themselves when they have not submitted an application. WTH?? Stop whining people and put down your laptop, get out of your La-Z-Boy, and complete the application process.

If you came here to bemoan the process or bad mouth the cops who refuse to hear your plea for assistance then why are you here. We don't want to hear (read) it. XD if you don't want to start the process then send a PM to skalb and you two can share a beer with a few tears mixed in or have some cheese to go with your whine.

Yes, RPD is likely to deny your application. But then you can take your denial to RSO and submit an applicaiton there with a much better chance for success. You COULD just ask RPD to just issue you a letter of denial so that you can apply direcly to RSO. You MAY even try calling the RSO CCW unit and ask them if you can skip RPD altogether and submit directly to them. They may or may not save you a few weeks of processing time.

But if you don't want to even try, then stop coming here and crying about the unfairness of the process. We (or at least I) don't want ot hear it. But IF you want help, then we are here for you.

Keith

Actually, I have a migraine today. I was trying to do my homework with a headache and checked in with the forum. Then I got to thinking about a recent exchange of PMs with skalb and I went off...

Sorry for the rant but people need to stop coming here and whining about not being able to get a permit when they haven't even TURNED IN AN APPLICATION!

I guess I'm still steaming a bit....

Trust me I understand where your coming from it has not been easy or straight forward for me so when someone complains without trying I feel like saying come on really at least try and then if you have something to complain about by all means be my guest.
