Default Nick The New Guy (Orange County)

Greetings Gents,

I am an Orange County resident, I am self employed and was discharged from the Marines in August. I have poked around this site in the past and have a couple questions for the regulars.

what impact does a juvenile record have on a permit?

and

considering the news in orange county, are permits still being processed at the same rate?

thanks in advance!

-Sgt B

You MUST disclose all facts about your past, but being that it was while a juvenile, I am thinking that during the interview process it can be explained. If you were incarcerated or used a weapon to commit a crime, that could be a problem.

We had a guy recently that had overcome serious addiction problems and he was issued, albeit in a different county (One that issues rarely, too).

As to the process still working smoothly, the word from above is that nothing has changed.

I had issues as a juvenile and have been issued in 5 different states. I had arrests only,, no convictions. None of my issues were for any kind of violence or firearms related.

Do include everything on your application. The FBI background check will show everything on your record. I paid for a copy of my FBI before I went to proceed with my first application so I would have the dates and charges involved. In fact I included a copy of my FBI and Ca. DOJ records with my application because I didn't my issuing authority to have any surprises.

Good luck sgt b and if you have any questions PM me.

Welcome, Sargent, and thank you for your service.

I don't know if your juvenile record would affect your approval - I'd guess it would depend on what the offense was. BUT - if I was you, I'd look into getting my juvenile record sealed. Not just for CCW purposes, but for life in general.

Sealing Juvenile Court Records

There are plenty of lawyers that do this work, too.

Dang, spc, 5 different states? You got around!

Even if the record is sealed. it must be disclosed. They will get past theseaed record for the ccw background check.
