I am 27 and i am currently running a family business (liquor store) out in Santa Clarita (near Valencia). What is my chance of getting a CCW?

Unfortunately, since you are Long Beach, your chances of being issued a CCW license are extremely poor.

I live out in Santa Clarita and run a business out here also. My second home is in long beach. If that make a difference.

Not really. It's still LA County. Which means, unless your local PD issues (you might want to check into that -I'm sure CCWI will know and he should be along before too long), you're still dealing with Sheriff Baca. And there your chances are somewhere between slim, none, and fat chance.

Santa Clarita is a contract city. Still have to deal with Sheriff Baca.

Unfortunately, Santa Clarita is also in Los Angeles County, and police services there are provided by the LA Sheriff's Department.

Edited to add - the preceding two answers were posted while I was typing. I swear.

Ah. I didn't realize that. Well, there you have it. I wish I could give you better news.

If nothing else, it will be interesting to hear if any of the deputies have a more positive attitude toward CCW than does the sheriff.

Hey Sam. Welcome to the forums. Everyone is VERY HELPFUL as you can see.

Talk to the Sheriff's that come into the store and see what they have to say. Maybe their Dept issues CCW's but if not, may be a loss cause because LA County pretty much doesn't issue.

Remember, you can always carry inside your place of business, but make sure its locked and unloaded and secured safely for California once you step foot outside.

Mike

No. I'm talking about the Sheriff's Deputies. You mentioned asking them about it. What they'll tell you is that you have to apply with with the Sheriff (Baca), and maybe they'll tell you that it's not likely that he'll issue. But it also might be interesting if any of them tell you what their own view of CCW is. It won't be helpful to you, but it might be interesting nonetheless.
