I decided to join this forum to get advice about obtaining a CCW permit. I need help with good cause and would like to get help. I've been a gun owner since the 1980's. I'm a trap shooter and I have several handguns that I shoot as well (Kimber .45 acp, Ruger GP-100, CZ 75 SP-01, and Bersa .380 acp).

My first handgun was the .380 acp Bersa that I purchased in the late 1980's when a man was stalking me and there were no anti-stalking laws then. The police told me that they couldn't do anything unless the person entered the property.

After the I purchased the hand gun the stalker attempted to break into my residence. I had my female roommate call the police while I told the person on the other side of the door that I would shoot them the second they entered the house. The stalker never bothered me or my roommate again.

Now I'm faced with another issue and would like some help with obtaining a CCW permit. I would rather email this person and discuss what my cause is and if it is reasonable to for me to persue a CCW permit in San Diego.

Welcome sdangie!!

You are correct to not post your GC on a public forum. It is considered bad form. We have a few members who can help. You have Tango 52 down by you who may be able to give you advice about the CCW process. If you have a GC, just type up what you think sounds good and send it to greg@firearmstraining.com and put GC in the subject line. He will get back to you in a day or two.

I like it when the ladies arm themselves. Women are much more likely to be victims of violent crime than men.

Glad to have you with us.

Keith

Welcome to CalCCW, sdangie.

You've come to a great place for camaraderie, CCW advice and up-to-the-minute news on direction in CCW law in California. We have an in house subject matter expert that will look over your good cause statement when you're ready. You can email your good cause to greg@firearmstraining.com with a Subject of "Good Cause". We also have forum members that can give you advice on applying for your CCW license in San Diego County.

Glad to have another woman join us. There's too much testosterone around here at times.

I see Keith has beat me to the ENTER KEY while I was spellchecking, but I'll post all of this anyway.

On this forum, we attempt to foster a respect for the law and stay far away from "bending" the law. We also don't need anyone to be a test case. And while concealed does mean concealed, the way we conduct ourselves as CCW holders reflects on all of us. Don't carry somewhere just because you can get away with it. Carry there because it's legal and you're welcome there.

Welcome sdangie! I am currently in the process of updating the SD County FAQ with the most recent available info. It should be posted by Monday. In the meantime, enjoy reading through the extensive info we have here. As mentioned above, gred is our premier reviewer of good cause statements. It basically comes down to what currently makes you at significantly greater risk than the average person. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Welcome to the forum!! As previously mentioned, sometimes the testosterone level is a little high. It's nice to have some estrogen to even things out a bit. Good luck with your CCW!!
