Default I'm a new member..

I'm in Riverside county and couldn't find much info on my county. Anyone know how difficult it is to get a CCW in my county?

Are you in the city of Riverside, or just the county. As I understand it, if you live in the city proper, you have to apply to the PD. If you live elsewhere in the county, you apply with the sheriff. Either way, I don't believe it's very easy. Riverside just got a new sheriff, and if I recall correctly, CCWI stated that he expects CCWs to go down.

See CCWI's post here: http://www.calccw.com/Forums/general...html#post15414

Welcome aboard Mark. Riverside will probably be a tough one for issue of CCW, but there are references here and links that will provide the best information you will find.

Other members may chime in with more.

The new Sheriff is more Conservative than retired sheriff Bob Doyle.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but CCW licenses weren't all that easy to get even under Doyle.

Well that depends, better than LA county, worse than OC. They had about 1397 issued.

It's not impossible. I did it 6 years ago, and have changed jobs (to one with more need) since I first applied. I have been through 2 renewals. I started with the Palm Springs Police Gun Safety course and a reference from a former PSPD Cmdr.

Since then have taken the RSD (Riverside Sheriff Dept) renewal classes. I don't think the new Sheriff (Sniff) will be any more difficult that Doyle was. He is a very fair man.

After an incident, Doyle prohibited cocked and locked 1911s from non-LEOs (law enforcement officers) CCWs and required a retention holster (with a snap or other active retention device). I hope that changes.

Feel free to contact me for any help or advice on your journey.

Jim
