I just happend on this site while searching for a gun shop. Needless to say I am pleasantly suprised. I just need to find out if I apply to the cty or the county I live in city limits.
I dont know which guns I would want to carry yet. Can you apply with one type and change later? Thanks Paul |

You are correct! Yes, you can change guns.

Ok I went to the local gunshop and they suggested that I go talk to the police about how to get started. Do you think that with my city being ccw friendly I should be fully prepared before I go down? With the ccw training complete etc? Also how would it work for my wife and I to apply at the same time? Would that change anything?
Thanks |

Welcome prodman. It's good to see another Napan in here. There would be no problems if you and your Wife applied at the same time. Hack, it may help.
Again the big thing will be what's your reason to carry. Brian |

Before you head down there I would think it is a good idea to make sure you have your good cause straight. Sometimes when put on the spot it is hard to recite the true facts verbally and under pressure if you know what I mean. Even if you are on a fact finding "procedure" mission, don't be surprised if one or two officers ask why you need or want to carry. |

A member from a certain county wishing to apply has a question, not only does he get the sage advice of the FMs, SMs and more experienced members but a member from his very county who has already successfully navigated the course can chime in with some actual "feet on the ground" experience. No wonder the Forum is so successful! ![]() |

I talked with another person at the gun shop today. He seemed better informed than the first guy I met. And from what he said I feel pretty confident about going for it. It helps that I have prepared my good cause stament, with a little help from some helpful members of the site.
Now I just need to decide on a gun to qualify with right now its between the glock27-23 and kimber ultra carry. I plan to go to the range and do some shooting first of coarse. |

Hey prodman,
Now the hard parts starts. which one to get. You really won't go wrong with any of those choices. It will be all about practice, practice and practice. Keep those skills up and work with quility instructors. Quote:

My wife and I went and shot the glock 23 and the full size kimber last night. My wife shot alot better with the kimber and said she prefered the recoil of the 45 (grantend the kimber had a 5" barrel). I did about the same with both. I wish I was able to shoot the ultra sized Kimber.
