Default Interview/Class

Called for my interview today. Unfortunatly Placer County is booking into January so its going to be a few months. Meantime I completed my CCW course yesterday (8 hours) per Placer guidelines and have completed my application and brought together my supplimental documentation as recommended.

I am hoping that they will add another person to do the interviews (they are working on adding up to 2 more persons) which per the scheduler may push my appointment into November. So fingers crossed on that one.

Meantime, I'll probably take a defensive handgun class and get another couple of books and of course, hit up the range.

Suppose I'll probably go look for a new gun specifically to carry. The Kimbers seem to be an excellent choice.

I'll keep you all posted.

Welcome. You can also start the waiting process for a holster if you choose one of the big makers with a long lag time...

I figured. My friends over there asked if I wanted to apply for that job, because they are hurting for dispatchers. No thanks.

Yesterday was my interview. Approved - pending results of livescan.

Interesting interview, about 1 hour. No big surprises. I thought they might comment on the guns I brought to put on the permit as they were all full frame (92FS, P226 .40 and Glock 20 10mm), or might have issue on the 10mm but all was fine.

I'm still intersted in the Kimber, so when I get it, I'll likely replace the Beretta on the permit.

Interviewer seemed like a good guy. Thorough, serious, but not in a "adam henry" way. Professional - just the sort of guy you would want doing them.

Did comment on my "instructor". Was not impressed with the quality of the class and I gave feedback to same. I brought with me 3 books that I'd bought to suppliment my training (in addition to the pamphlet bought for my class). He approved of that in terms of understanding law, mind set and recommended continuing defensive handgun training at a local range.

All in all, a long process with a bit longer to go but I am extremely pleased. I'll let you all know when I receive it. Thank you to the board and members who assisted me, it was invaluable.
