In June when I was working on my permit I called and was told I could use a gun registered to my wife as long as we lived at the same address. It went through without any problems.

I have 3 guns on my CCW. One hubby bought long before we met, one he bought for me as a B-day gift, and one I bought him as a gift.
No problems at all.

Well, I dropped off my application packet along with a copy of my DL and a recent utility bill to SBPD. The lady was very nice and down to Earth. She asked me, "So, you're pretty much just looking for a denial letter, right?" She says that should speed up their process and I should know about it within a week or 2.

Yes you can have her guns on your permit and yours on hers. Its a good idea because if something happens and she uses your gun not on her permit you can get in a lot of trouple, according to Mariposa county, that exact question was brought up in my ccw class, but we are only limited to 2 guns.

Hi everyone! Here's an update on my process... I turned in my app to SBPD in mid-November and it turns out that they LOST my app! When I called about a month later to check on the status, they had no idea who I was or what I was talking about. So the lady there sent me a new package in the mail to fill out along with an apology letter and said my new app would be expedited. But, luckily, she called me back after the holidays and said that they had found the original app, denied me, and I'm expecting the denial letter in the mail any day now. As soon as I have that letter in-hand, I'm gonna call and reschedule with SBSD.

I'll keep ya'll posted thru the rest of the process. Thanx again to everyone for all the great support, info, and communication!!!

Well that is progress, I guess. Good Luck.

I have a Ruger P90 that I was going to put on my CCW (not my primary weapon though) and my wife bought it for me back when we lived in Arizona. So the gun is from another state and is in her name. Does anyone know if I will have any issues with putting the gun on my CCW? My thoughts are that it will be fine since the gun doesn't break any CA regs and we are still married. But, I figured its worth asking.
Did you register it with California when you moved into the State? I believe you will have to do that. I believe there is a time limit (30 or 90 days) to register when you get into the state to make it your residence. I would be afraid to have them consider it for your carry permit.

Default Letter?

I was given a business card, and told that if they had any questions as to why the local CCW was denied, to have them give a call...worked like a charm. Just a few months ago..

Ok, so I wound up just taking my Ruger P90 off my application. Maybe I'll add it to my permit if/when I get it. Anyways, I had my interview with SBCSD this morning and I think it went really well. Now I just have to wait for them to go through my background and contact all my references. However, they didn't have any range courses scheduled right now so who knows how long it will be before I can get that knocked out...

Your postings here will help those who come after you in the process. Keep them coming.

The County is very good about following up. Just be sure to answer your phone or check your voicemails. I was on the same boat. They did not have a class date so I got a call about 2 to 3 weeks after the interview.

Don't worry about this delay. They are probably starting the background check now, so it doesn't matter whether you take the class now, or a month from now.

Keep us posted on your progress.

I just wanted to say thanks for all the support guys!!! It's really awesome to have this resource when trying to get your CCW. Also, I just wanted to mention what my interviewer said in the very beginning of the interview. He said that it is the philosophy of the County Sheriff that if someone has lived in the County for at least 1 year, has a clean record, and wants to carry a gun, he/she should be able to. MAN, I love this County
