thanks for the welcome. Read the 10 things non gun people think --very good. Liking the threads about LEO contacts. Since getting permitted I have experienced a marked change in my driving behaviour. I wasn't bad before
( well, depending upon how far back "before" indicates) but now I notice I am particularly making effort to blend in ....a nice bit of icing for my cake

Nobody mentioned this behavioural adaptation to me in class or at the range. Can't be I'm the only one though can it?

Hey! Think I'll do a thread about this. Yahooty

Welcome, Tanner.

No, you're not alone. Understanding the potential consequences that exist when it comes to actual application of deadly force, in any form, should permanently make you more aware of everything around you. If you're familiar with LTC (Ret) Jeff Cooper's Color Codes, you should strive always to be at "Condition Yellow" — not keyed, not on edge, just alert and aware. It would have been a good topic to have been discussed in your class.

I've seen statistics - don't know where right now, that show that CCW'ers are significantly less likely to be involved in confrontational situations than the general public. That's no surprise to those of us who do CCW.

I love Ft. Bragg. I've only been there a few times, abalone diving once when I was a student at HSU. The really fresh stuff is sooo much better than what you get in restaurants! My non-diving wife freaked out when there were a couple gray whales playing a couple hundred feet further out from where we were diving.

Welcome Tanner. Fort Bragg is our northern home. We also have a camp on the Noyo. Um, shrimp wontons at Captn Flints. If you don't already shoot with the Redwood Practical shooters, you need to check them out. Pretty much all CCW holders. Great bunch of guys.
Redwood Practical Shooters of Fort Bragg California

so what's your ride? 03 Valkyrie and 06 VTX1800N1 here.

Welcome !!!

CCW holders always comment on a whole new level of being aware.

Condition Yellow (and the others) were talked about and part of our class instruction.

How long have you had your CCW?

Did you get the Nacho's?....

It would have been a good topic to have been discussed in your class. Our instructor went over the conditions of readiness--good stuff. Kinda' got a lot of the paying attention stuff after going to the dojo for awhile--same kinda' deal. Funny, that's where I learned to be looking for my escape route and same thing holds true now that I carry. Took me awhile and a few lumps on the noggin before I found out real courage is not having to prove anything and being okay enough with my esteem to find a way to get away from a situation. My kid knew that by , like 13 or something l, but I was considerably more dense--exponentially so

I've seen statistics - don't know where right now, that show that CCW'ers are significantly less likely to be involved in confrontational situations than the general public. That's no surprise to those of us who do CCW.

Yep. Definitely don't want to be around any trouble , now more than ever.

Yeah , grew up in Willits and it took me almost 30 years to get back up this way with my Company. Love the weather most of all. I'm built for cold and carry my own extra layers-they seem permanently attached too

Redwood Practical Shooters of Fort Bragg California They assisted in our CCW Course and I've got to know a few of them a little better. Great bunch of guys and the scenarios they set up for practice are pretty cool. Very fun bunch but also really, really, safety conscious and that's BIG.

01 zrx1200 with too much extra stuff. Fun bike for me.Plus both my kids ride Kawi's ( well , the boy rides Husky and Honda, and maybe even Yamaha too. Can't keep up with him in more ways than one.) I don't go on the track anymore so I have added crash bars, hwy pegs, beaded set cover, cruise, xm radio--I'm really set up for the long haul now.Pretty tempted about the Rocket 3 but as I keep fiddling with mine it's getting more comfy for the 500 mile days . I have a turbo and it helps because I am waaay too big for the bike otherwise My real good buddy in AZ just got the kinda' turquoise, I guess, Valk and he's hooked! Always was into straight-line HP , 1/4 mile, turbo's but now he's into taking his wife and torque. He's still being teased by a bunch of us but he doesn't seem to mind. He's really tickled with the bike. You pretty much custom order the 18? So many looks for that bike. Pretty amazing how they met that market and make so many different ways to go with just one really good base bike and then let everybody do their own thing from there. You got plenty of ground clearance to ride across hwy 20 and have a cup?

well right there-lesson number 1-I don't have it together enough to multiquote so many. Excuse the mess. It's all up there just not like it should be formatted and stuff
Did you get the Nacho's?....
You lost me there? "splain yoursef'!

When you get your CCW, the tradition is to visit Wal Mart, take a walk around as it supposed to be new to you and buy a plate of Nacho's.

If they have ammo, you should pick up a box or two.

Since your new and you've had a CCW for a few months, you can still poison your body with Nacho's as a right of passage.

Others will chime in with some Nacho stories.

Again, welcome and congrats on the CCW.
