Hello there...I recieved a message from Mark that I should intro myself. Anyhow, former Marine, live in Ridgecrest, hate the freakin gun laws in CA, blah, blah, blah. I don't have my CCW yet but it is in the works. Hopefully it will go thru without any hiccups. Those familiar with Ridgecrest...I do work on base and I am an avid motorcycle rider (noticed Mark rides too). Looking forward to the wealth of information that is available here.

Welcome DevilDog16, and thank you for your service. As you said, hopefully everything will go smoothly, but feel free to ask any questions. That's why we're here.

Welcome. I've been to Ridgecrest a few times on the way to Mammoth. Great Chinese food. I also remember a gun store that was also some guy's home. Ahh the small town living.

Welcome from another former Marine. Semper Fi. I, too, have been to Ridgecrest for some skiing. I was NOT on the way to Mammoth. We did our cold weather training up there a couple of times when I was active in the 80s. I still have some vivid memories of pulling an okio (sp) up a mountain in a snowstorm at night. Also remember getting out of the helos while they hovered at ground level, anyone under 150# was sent flying like a rag doll. Good luck with obtaining a CCW, keep us posted on your progress and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Keith

Ahh yes, John's Gunworks. Good man, I do a lot of business with him. Business is right out of what used to be his garage.

You must be talking about the Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport? Never had the pleasure of training there, but I have driven past it many times on my way to Reno.

Thanks for the kind welcomes from everyone. I will be sure to keep posted my progress on my ccw. I submitted the paperwork last Friday and I am going to take the class for it on the 21st. I know I am jumping the gun here, maybe, but I have the opportunity to take the class now so I am doing it while I can...besides, if all goes well, it will just speed the process up a bit, right?

Most likely no problems, working on the base is a good factor for most, even though the application recommends you wait for approval...I have known several that have taken the course first and then the application,

btw there is another person who works out of his house and that is Frey's Gun Shop, these folks walk the walk and talk the talk, Jon's GunWorks is a good place also, and then the new one Guns4Us and one more doing consignments and sales but have not met him yet, and please excuse me for getting off track here

Welcome to CalCCW, DevilDog16.

Thanks you for your service to our country, Brother.

Ridgecrest, I've spent several afternoons at one of my employers offices there. A long drive from the Central Valley, even when you start out from Bakersfield, but I enjoy the drive. I think the desert is a beautiful place, any time of year.

Best of luck with your pursuit.

Welcome! I've lived in Kern County all of my life and I have never been to Ridgecrest. Maybe I will take the wife on a ride some weekend and have a look around.
