I know, it sucks. Basically, the Counties follow State law, but some Counties are more strict than others. Federal Constitutional rights can and do have limitations.

Sadly, the Second Amendment is not an absolute right. For example, we have the First Amendment Freedom of Speech, but it can be limited by time, place and manner (among other things).

Also, as long as the State law is not in direct conflict with the Constitution, the State law in CA (good cause, etc) will fly, because the State is free to "supplement" the Fed Constitution (by adding the good cause and "clean record" requirement).

Welcome to California!

Welcome.
I am with you on this one and I share your dismay. Imagine this, if the process to get a CCW permit would be the same as Florida, a no drama situation, this site would not even exist!. because it would be as routine for a law abiding citizen as getting a drivers license after complying with all requirements. If you are a law abiding citizen in Florida a comply with all requirements for a CCW permit, you get it, that's it. Finito!. No drama, no big deal!
As you pointed out, the hippies are running this state!

From the sounds of it they are directly disregarding the 2nd in Santa Cruz, Sonoma, SF, Monterey ETC. as these Counties will not give you the right to carry. Now how are they able to do this? How is this complying with the 2nd? I do not see your point!

Welcome to California!
The fact they add good cause / clean record is fine but my county is not even offering that!!! that is where I get angry!! They should at least follow the suit as the other counties like Humboldt and Sierra! Santa Cruz and other counties around SF bay and Monterey Bay are not offering that! That is unconstitutional!!

As tough as it may be for us to understand or accept, these issuing authorities have the discretion to issue as they feel fit. The fact that we feel it is unconstitutional doesn't seem to matter, the best we can do is to try to change the rules from within the system.

There are many cases coming up that can make changes for the better. Do your homework, study the issues and cases, become active politically and vote for pro 2nd amendment candidates. Be a leader, get active and be patient: then watch the changes happen in our favor.
