must be age 21 for CCW permit, have yet to see a Calif county say issuance at age 18-19,

ok, ill look into that. i know my chances are even lower than most, but ill try.

thanks to all for replying, been talking to my neighbor, a police officer, and surprised how little he knows. thought that i couldnt carry hollow points

...and ofcoarse as you already know, be a law abiding citizen with no negative law enforcement contacts. And be especially carefull at home because a simple accusation from another of co-habitant abuse in a misd. conviction means loosing your right to own firearms for life (its a new law).

And just as an FYI, CCWInstructor is a SME (Subject Matter Expert) in regards to handgun law; he regularly testifies in court cases regarding these issues. IF the handgun is registered in your name it was either a mistake or illegal.

Can you cite the relevant code? I believe California law requires that you be 21 or older to buy a handgun. But I believe you are only required to be 18 to own a handgun.

I believe that one cannot BUY or PPT a handgun till they are 21 and older but they can receive one from a parent or a grandparent as early as 18.
