I've been looking into getting a CCW permit in this county. Rumor has it that it's pretty tough. I saw that a district attorney got one. It appears that her reasoning was based on the general nature of her job, which involves having to piss off criminals. Anyway, I'm going to try.

Welcome aboard from the staff and members.

You may live in a challenging county for obtaining CCW. The most important thing you need in your application is your Good Cause, which is a personal statement of reason of need to carry.

Go over your GC again and again. After you have what you believe is the best GC statement you can put together pass it by one of the founding members via PM and see if the content or wording can be improved to offer you the best chance for success.

We have several folks here who can help when you are ready.

Default A little help

When you apply for a CCW give good cause such as you carry large amounts of money, you travel frequently at odd hours of the day over long distances etc. Also I have found that it helps if you add the phrase “ I would only feel justified in using a firearm when in accordance with the law”. These few suggestions should help with the advancement of your CCW request process.

Welcome warhatchet1975!!

Thanks for chiming in, but jakemccoy's post was from 2007. Have you received a permit from Solano County? If so, we had someone sign on and ask about the process in your county just yesterday. Apparently skywalk_99 is moving here from out of state and wants to know about getting started in Solano. Your county doesn't have a good reputation for doling out permits, something like 150 for the whole county? If you do have a permit, maybe you could help him?

Welcome again,

Keith

Default Solano County

I realized a little late into the post that it was from 2007 but figure it still came up so I thought I would post it anyway. My permit is from Butte county, but tommarow morning Im going to make a few calls and see if Solano county will honor a transfer. On this subject I'm a little fuzzy so we'll see. Butte county was awsome about the entire process it coast abot 170 dallors total and I had the permit in hand with in 9 days, as far as Solano county goes I am going to look into their policies.

It's "awesome," not "awsome," but I don't know how to quote both of you.

Just one other note...we don't post our good cause on the site, or suggest to others what their good cause could or should be.

Now that I did more than my fair share of "mothering," I'll just say welcome to the forum!
