Default Carry Original CCW Form or a Copy?

Hi All,

I am a new CCW Holder would like to know what the requirements are for carrying the original CCW versus a copy? I generally carry the original (even though my County laminates them and they won't easily fit in a wallet) but there are circumstances where I am worried that the original will get ruined and want to carry a copy. I am a trail runner, so I am generally in PT gear and had been carrying color copies of my CDL and military ID in a ziplock bag in my Camelback pack. When I am out, I'm running through the brush, wading through streams, and other "fun" and have destroyed the copies numerous times in the past. I would hate to have to get the CCW reissued!

Thanks for any input.

Shekky

Carry the original. If you carry a copy it probably will not be considered a legal document AND you WILL be spending a lot of quality time with your local law enforcement when you could have been left to go about your business.

I have never worried about carrying the original. I keep it in an ID wallet with my DL and its convenient, and when handing to an LEO they appreciate the fact that they don't have to ask for it since it shows you have nothing to hide.

Better to be safe than sorry...

Welcome Shekky. You need to ask calccw for the rice paper icon if you have your permit.
