Gents,.........Im not a lawyer and am having a hard time fishing through the Heller decision. Im reading as much as I can on it but it seems everyone has an opinion when it comes to this and its hard to wade through all the hype and what really matters. I know there is a couple of law savy individuals on the site here and Im hoping you can clear this up........or at least shed some light on it. So here goes a couple of questions:
1. How does this decision effect california specifically? 2. Would this decision help pave the way for national CCW, thus side stepping the whole process here in california? 3. Do we want national CCW? Or keep it state issued? Your thoughts please.............Ciderbite |

2. Not likely, yet. The momentum might be there after Palin sits in the VP office, though. Heller gets the ball rolling, but national elections may well set the rest of the tone. Heller does not DIRECTLY affect national CCW. 3. Varied opinions. I prefer national.

You should be sending a letter asking for national CCW to a congressperson. If McCain/Palin get in office, I am sure they would sign any bill on that issue as passed by Congress. You need a bill first. Starts with House of Reps or Senate.

I thought it was dead as of the August break? Guess I slept through that. If such a bill made it through and was signed by the Pres, it would put such immense pressure on CA legislature that they would have to go to shall issue. IMHO

. What about national CCW? Do we keep it at state level or go with pressuring the California legislature by going national? |

I also think national Reciprocity is allot less likely to bite us in the Butt than a National (read a federal) System. Never give to the Feds to regulate that which can fixed between the states on a handshake deal(even if they have to be forced). |

I'm not saying he's anti but he has tried to pass legislation to limit gun shows and sales of firearms.
I wouldn't count on him but he's not as bad as others could be.
