Read the whole thing through twice (law school habits!) as soon as it was released, printed it out and posted it outside my cubicle with the other important news, and have referenced it a few times since. A couple of my co-workers have stopped to read it.

I agree! I had the privilege of hearing him speak in person at my law school, and I will always respect his ability to articulate his position clearly, whether or not I agree with the position he's taken. He gave a wonderful lecture to us and actually taught my constitutional law that day and gave the class a lecture on standing as well as giving a general speech to everyone later on.

Just finished Scalia's opinion. Bravo!

Now on to Stevens and Breyer (or what's left of them after Scalia eviscerated their arguments).

Lawrence v. Texas. Nothing to do with firearms, so discussing it here would probably get us in trouble.

I read through it once when it was announced. A little dry but then again I'm no lawyer. I imagine that a lot of it went right over my head.Luckily we have RD here to help make sense of it!

I have read it once and will do again but much slower and try and follow all of the examples both sides give.

You disagree with L v T? This I gotta hear.

To be clear, she said she disagreed with Scalia in L v T.

Scalia joined Thomas and Renquist in the dissent. I agree with Scalia, it was a bad decision. It resulted in a public policy that I support, but that policy should have been from the legislature.

Now we're talking.

Yes, I disagree with Scalia in LvT. I feel that regulating interpersonal relationships between adults is beyond the scope of what governments are constitutionally allowed to do. It took a constitutional amendment to ban alcohol, but for some reason state and local governments think they can ban sex, drugs, and guns without constitutional authority.

Oh, but those local laws are for "the greater good"...LMAO. From one large "R", small "l" to another, you're preaching to the choir.

Heller still has problems, but the momentum it will carry is significant. Riding that wave of momentum is the trick.
