Default Thank you!

Mr Smith:

First of all, THANK YOU and those that were able to attend.

Second, a question - when speaking with Mr. DeLeon, did anyone ask him why he is pushing thru the exact same bill that was shut down during the last session? I am not trying to be sarcastic, I'd really like to know why he did. Pressure from the residents of the area he lives in, etc, etc?

Thanks again!

Good job. Glad to hear there was such a large turnout that it had to be split up into multiple groups. I assume it was a thundering herd that they were not accustomed to hearing from ... I made my three phone calls and I wish all others would do the same.

A job well done. I extend my thanks to you and the rest in attendance for your professional approach to a critical issue that impacts not just those of us shooters but every tax payer in California.

I guess that now the Assembly will require you to register as a lobbiest!

Libertarian's link (posted 05-07-2008 08:40 AM) no longer works.

Tom98915 tells us in another thread today in this same legal section ("California Assembly to Consider Severe Restrictions on Ammunition Sales!") that this bill is now back in the works, to be heard before the Assembly Appropriations Committee next Wednesday.

This bill is like one of those inflated clowns with the sandbag in the bottom, that pops right back up when you put it down.

I'm getting to understand this whole coulrophobia (fear of clowns) thing...

Can someone more familiar with this site put a link in these threads, then maybe lock one of them so we keep our info clear?

I'm pretty sure no one reading this will want to miss the latest intel from reading the wrong thread, on the other hand, both threads showcase the efforts and excellent work members are doing, and the members deserve ongoing recognition.

I talked to Assemblyman Lieu's office and thier stance has not changed and thanked me for informing them that this bill has raised it's ugly head. He said that hundreds of bills will be heard that day and that it is good that I called.

Assemblyman Huffman's office still thinks it is to expensive independent of the stance on firearms. They don't beleive that it will go anywhere.

We must keep the pressure on here to kill this in the womb.

Breaking News of AB 2062 .....

Breaking News of AB 2062 – Ammo Registration

The Assembly Committee on Appropriations has just placed AB 2062 on the Suspense File. Even though any bill with costs of over $150,000 automatically goes to suspense, Assemblyman Kevin DeLeon amended his bill in an attempt to get below this fiscal threshold.

We’ve heard from our supporters that members of the Appropriations committee admit to having received many hundreds of phone calls on AB 2062 since our Lobby Day on May 6th, and virtually 100% in opposition. Key Democrat staffers answering the phone have indicated that their bosses believe that there is no support for this bill and it will die.

The Suspense File is often used by the committee as a tool to bury bills they want to see go away. They simply leave the bill on suspense until after the deadline to take up any more bills. They then claim that the state does not have enough resources to fund the bill which allows the author to save face.

If AB 2062 stays on the Suspense File, we will all know the real reason.

Ask any pro-gun member of the Appropriations Committee and they will tell you that the lobbying effort spearheaded by Gun Owners of California was timely and effective. We will continue to lead the way.

Thank you to all of the other organization who took part in our Lobbying Day. We make a heck of a team when we work together.

We will keep you informed about any change in status on AB 2062.
