In a lot of small towns up in the mountains and in those remote areas of CA. the post office could be/is a hole in the wall, you whiz in and out of there in no time, to get the mail out of the PO Box because there is not even USPS mail delivery service.

Sounds like you've been to my post office.

The owner says it is private property but I don't want to be the test case to find out that post office regulations still apply.

Private property has no bearing. Is it leased by the Post Office?

There are a lot of Federal building that are not owned by the Federal government. Such as the IRS. They lease large building all overs the US.

What about his days off??? Not sure the Assist PM would feel the same way and his verbalization of Federal Law bypass is a little goofy for me. .... ie. A bartender can decide to serve an under-age kid, but he can still get busted.

No, the property is not leased or rented by the post office. The only income the property owner gets from the post office is a percentage of the postal proceeds of the sales made for products and services.

No, but in my misguided youth I'd been known to cart around a 26er or two on occasion.

We have the same issue up here. There is no street delivery from the USPS. With the weather we get up here and the snow issues it would be near impossible to have a reliable street delivery at least during the winter.

Even mail through the post office is often delayed during heavy storms. Somehow UPS and FedEx seem to be able to do street delivery routes except when weather closes Hwy. 395.

Default Satellite USPO in local drug store

We have a "satellite" post office in a local drug store. The people that operate it are drug store employees and not USPO people. They are much more friendly to deal with than the local USPO.

My question ... since the main building is a Drugstore and the USPO counter is a small little cube in the back, is the entire store considered of limits to CCW? There are no signs posted prohibiting CCW and I do not feel as though it is a PO .... I go there often for my wife's meds .... tranquilizers for living with me.... just kidding.

I know you're looking for a definitive answer from someone that know the real answer, but I wouldn't think that a drugstore PO staffed by drugstore employees would be the same as a USPS building. I hesitate to refer to a USPS building as a federal property because I remember when they were a private enterprise, but MY OPINION is that the drugstore would set their own policy/rules.

I'm NOT an expert on this matter, but I DID stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.
