If you leave it in the car, I'd want to have a secure place (gun safe) to store it. What about asking them if you can check the gun into a gun locker at the facility? I presume they have such lockers on premises.

See for me the problem is less what happens once you're in the building, but on the way there. In Fresno we don't park right in front of the building. We have to park in a garage downtown and walk. A lady just got attacked in a Hall of records bathroom, those kinds of people are walking the street everywhere, everyday. I'd like to be prepared.

I guess it is up to each IA on how they feel about letting you carry inside their building.

Exactly what I was told also and the way I feel.

The last two Tuesday's, I've had to take part in Oakland City Council pre-meeting and a City Safety meeting for an ordinance change that effects our business.

These meetings take place at City Hall, right where all the occupy tents were.
Last Tuesday when the meeting let out, there were over 200 people in the plaza, some were speaking but most were smoking pot or spray painting the sidewalks. Oakland is not a nice place after dark...

The walk from City Hall to a parking garage is about 300 yards, at night, in the center of downtown Oakland.

I'm afraid to even ask Oakland City Hall Security to lock up my gun knowing Oakland's mentality I would be treated like a criminal, so I lock it in the car and make the 300 yard walk through what feels like a scene from a Mad Max movie.

I feel for you. I can remember during early transplant months when i had to make multiple trips per week to the city. Neither place is great, but Oakland is a place that fosters nightmares that cannot be conjured by most normal folks. The fact that they let that crap go on is just mind-boggling to me. If I was mayor, they would be arrested every time they acted threateningly. They would be arrested, and charged for restitution for EVERY instance of public property destruction. Also, I would be requesting FED charges where ever possible. I would ask the PD to make SURE that ALL the folks arrested from those groups were made to understand that jail is NOT a nice place...

Oakland could be a nice city. It's a shame how they've destroyed it.
