Just remember because they are pro 2A, doesn't meant they are the best for you. You want a criminal defense attorney. Bruce and Don are my choices.

Example: Jason Davis is attorney who specializes in civil 2A issue. Good for ranges and gun manufactures etc. He doesn't do much criminal work.

Just keep in mind different 2A specialize in different areas of the law.

What questions do you have? Bruce is the best in the area.
How do you define good? Don't get me wrong, I've already put his number into my cell phone, but y'all are just people online. When I'm facing 20+ in the slammer, I don't want to say I chose my attorney because some anonymous person on a forum recommended him. How do I vet? What should I be looking for?

Don't tell me you think it's prudent to select the attorney who will defend you just because "he was recommended online". I want to know why. What are the qualifications. It's like interviewing someone for a job...the job of defending my rights and my freedom!

Seems like thoroughly checking out their websites might be a good start. "Cousin Vinny" has a lot of good info on his site. Perhaps his skill at lawyering and knowledge of the law surpass his ability to produce an aesthetically pleasing web page.

The OP asked for a recommendation. He got it. If you want more info, that's your job to research it. Like you said, it's your butt on the line. I've broke bread with most of these guys (the FM's and SM's) and would trust them with my life. Their recommendation is great for me. If you don't take them at their word, then you need to research it on your own.

Personallly, I would like a relatationship with the attorney. Ideally we as a group would organize a local event where a qualified attorney or two would speak and answer questions.

January 28th and 29th, Costa Mesa gun show. I believe he is speaking at 1:00 pm both days.

Citizen, we can't provide virtual personal relationships. And this group is much too far-flung to organize much in the way of opportunities for forum members to meet attorneys. But opportunities do exist through other channels. In Northern California, follow the Madison Society for such events.

Besides, while the two attorneys discussed above are 2A experts, your most pressing need will be for an "A-list" criminal defense attorney in your own county. In a firearm - related incident that would require the immediate assistance, your critical need will be in the realm of criminal law. Matters such as carrying a loaded firearm, etc. are small potatoes compared to what you'll need immediately.

Fine and dandy, but from Don Kilmer's website:

"We do not usually take cases in which a firearm was used to commit violence."

Their practice is directed more towards possession issues.

So who in the Sacramento area is good for dealing with self defense issues?

Memorize the attorney's phone number.
And, until you have your mouthpiece sitting there, shut the heck up. I have a local attorney who has done work for me over a couple decades, and he and I have discussed this, with me doing some educating of him on gun law in the process. If the worst happens, I will call him (memorized) and he will call one of the lawyers already noted.......in a specific order.
